Hi guys, yes it's painted....as are a lot of other bits on it.

Just get a cloth and a toothbrush, get some all purpose cleaner of any type and pick a small section. Clean it and paint it with an artists brush and once you've gone from left to right it's done. It's a simple process anyone can do ;)

No. If I tried it Vince it would end up looking like a dog's breakfast.

I've heard the same statement made of machine polishing. Chris made it look so simple the other day but I bet if I tried it the end result would look worse than before...

Me and paint just don't go together

So what sort of paint can be used to get that effect, Vince? Since I've got no money to spend on important stuff like servicing and repairs, I might as well have a go at doing some prettyfying until the Saab goes.

Ragger, on the parts that get really hot use high temp spray paint...I spray it into the cap and then paint with a brush. On any other bits use alloy wheel paint. Or satin black if you want black.....the finish isn't to everyone's taste, but it is quite therapeutic as you can't rush it.

Well a great car weekend so far this week..... 8-)

The weather has been great and is glorious today. Yesterday i machined the bonnet and roof and fed all the plastics and rubbers. This morning i had a great time taking the xm out for a cruise through manchester and back, sun shining, car shining, does it get any better?.....

We are off out this afternoon for a walk with the kids....oh no that means i get to drive the xm again :o How can you not love these cars 8-)

Recent jobs done:
- Cleaned and sealed the strut top mounts in the arches ready for winter
- Cleaned and rust proofed the rear subframe mounts

Jobs i have lined up before christmas:
- Remove and refit the rear bumper (repairing the non existent bumper mount on the n/s/r)
- Get a good second hand FDV fitted (Paul is helping me with this, for a small fee) ;)
- Restore the wheel trims (money pending)
