Hi... New XM convert!
Hi,
I made my first posting about a week ago and promised I'd get some pics up and introduce myself.
I bought my XM, a '97 2.0 16V SX Auto, a few weeks back from a garage in Wath on Dearne as a direct swap for my then daily drive, a '98 Xantia TD Estate. Although the Xantia was a really good car, it always left me wanting something else in a way the Activa I have never did, hence the swap.
Some of you may recognise the XM as one that was for sale for a while on Autotrader, caomplete with numerous additional 16V and XM badges, stripes and a double chevron on the hatch. I've kept the latter for two reasons.... 1) It doesn't want to come off and 2) I actually quite like it!
It's a really good and very cool car I think and the first car I've had since the GSA X1 where someone has stopped me to ask questions about it... this happened today. It's in pretty stunning condition, even the flap for the keypad is still attached!
The only real problem with the car is that the plate tells everyone I'm a Welsh Man Utd supporter, when actually I am an Everton fan from Birkenhead living in West Yorkshire!

Re: Hi... New XM convert!
That car looks lots better for losing the additional garbage stripes and badges and the rear double chevron does look good...in fact I like it a lot.
Nice to see it in such good condition and being used now.

Black Xms look good, and are rare. Enjoy keeping her clean
You can get brand new numberplates on e-bay for £8 including delivery. I have got plates from the seller below. Superb value for money, and none of the hassles of getting plates from the motor factors (no need to show ID or V5).

Keep the gearbox oil clean and she should serve you well.
I do like a well polished black XM

.
Ah, the badge car.
Hi Wainy,
welcome to clubxm.
I remember this one, we had a few laughs at all those extra badges, but it always looked like there was a nice car hidden underneath them.
I'm sure it would have sold a lot quicker if the seller had bothered to remove the badges and give the car a good polish, as you have.
It looks really well now (why are SX's always in such good condition?).
These would complete the car nicely.............http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-alloy-wheels-ci ... arParts_SM
what part of W. Yorks are you from?
Hi Robert,
thanks for the number plate link, I never thought of looking on ebay. I normally pay a tenner each for them, this blokes selling them eight quid a pair

Not sure what's happened to the pics on this post, they are all full pictures and sized the same on Photobucket. God knows why it's cut off the right hand side of most of them!
