I remember this show vividly as a child, although not so much the car, but it may have added to the many TV & film appearances that led to my LHM obsession.
They do show the family visiting a dealer to buy her earlier, and then she has a pretty decent starring role right though the entire series & into the second season; and with a Visa in series 3, and with the CX-alike SD1 being the other starring car, I'd say the chap running the show must have had a bit of a thing for chevrons
Ive just seen this video and im at work so i have no sound, but from what i can work out the little boy is at school waiting for the time when he can go home and see his dads new car but he gets depressed because he thinks his dad may do the unthinkable and buy a Vauxhall Belmont...............
When daddy gets home that evening though he realises he has bought an exellent car, they pop the bonnet and have a look but suddenly the boy realises his father has not bought the 2.5 Turbo GTI but has in fact comitted a crime equal to that of exchanging money for a belmont.............he has bought a derv and throws a fit .
I will watch it when i get home tonight with some sound and see if ive got the story line right

I use to go the the motor show at the NEC every year primarily to look at the Mk 2 CX Safari, I said to the rep, I'm going to have one of these - in about ten years, but one came up in London at a very reasonable price in about half that time, I had to borrow the money but I bought it, ran it for seven years and over 150,000 miles, never been to the show since, still reckon it was the best car ever.
to be honest im a bit dissapointed now ive heard it, it sounds like a list of things a child would never say , i do like "dont touch anything" that would never happen with a normaal child would it!

Well the story of the show is that the boy has just been taken over buy a superior alien intelligence, so him asking 'What's the drag co-efficient' is pretty basic when you know that.
I just love seeing a brand new CX as about as close as you can, and imagining how great it would be to have one that wasn't falling apart

Carb at the back of the head so a 2.4 although the original pushrod 2.0 looks the same but by an A plater
it would've been a Douvrin with carb at the front. Still a pre flared arch car though. God these must've looked
the dogs new when you think what other stuff folk were buying. These just oozed sophistication and style!
Shame about the ratchety handbrake noise mind - spoils the effect somewhat!

IF this Cx was new, on an A plate (1 August 1983 – 31 July 1984) The dad couldn't have bought a Belmont
as this went on sale across Europe in the autumn of 1984. You could be fine were the Dad a savvy
buyer getting a demonstrator though!!
