Was that price with or without the clamp?
Available when last ordered does not mean still in production.
It is an item that is usually in very poor condition if recovered as a used item.
Be grateful that all three sizes of rear cylinder take the same bellow.

I have a slight lower-edge weep on one of mine. Will get hold of a couple while still available. Don't fancy improvising that particular part.
Have a question though, as I haven't dismantled this part before:
Rear cylinder bellows.JPG
The parts diag seems to show two gaiter-type items:
#3 - Damper Dust Guard
and the unnumbered part above (with clip #5)
Is one inside the other, or are they different parts for different MY/RP variations?
I presume the two take-offs are return and vent respectively.
Would be grateful for some confirmation.

I think those drawings were prepared when Citroen digitised the XM parts diagrams for service Citroen.
The original XM parts diagrams were on microfiche and generally not good enough for reuse without significant editing.
For the parts list separate exploded drawings are used so all the individual components in the list can be marked and identified.
The list shows only one XM boot and the lower boot looks more like a C5 boot to me.
It may be that the drawing differences for the boot are just the document editor taking the quickest available component diagram source rather than the extra work of ensuring perfect component accuracy.

Thanks, John. Even the sphere looks like C5, so probably a generic drawing.
So, only one boot, and it's the top one. Put me right if otherwise.

James,
What was the part number for the rear suspension bellows/boot you just purchased?

I don't have the invoice to hand but I looked at it in Service Citroen where the screenshot above is taken from. I'd guess I ordered 95549188. I will dig the invoice out and check by Thursday for you.

I have done the check on the microfiches.
The Service Citroen diagrams are a direct copy of the XM microfiche diagrams.
The boot and cylinder are different parts.
There were three sizes of cylinder (Mk1 car 34mm dia, Estate 42.5mm dia and Mk2 car 35mm dia) and two sizes of boot (car and estate).
It seems that Citroen then dropped the two sizes of boot as Service Citroen only shows a single item.
I guess that in practice it was found that the car boot could be expanded enough to fit an estate cylinder.
