By poorly planning my visits and throwing in some emergencies, its surprising how far you can drive when the company is filling the tank

What do the locals say when you turn up in it? Must be quite a shock seeing a sleek, six headlighted maroon spaceship rather than a van!

As the years have gone by public interest grows, i had to get a new battery for our hushgen generator at one of the local factors, a 2 minute stop turns into a 15 minute viewing session/photshoot/debate etc.
Get a lot of waves now out on the road from 'car people' too, being modified probably makes it more eye catching and many people think the lights, wheels are OEM equipment.
I think at the time the XM was a bit of a joke but now the offspring of previous owners look on them with great affection and fond memories, many as the car they wish their dad had bought had he not been stark raving sane. Weird how hindsight changes perception.

Very interesting, and not surprising. Whenever I take mine out it gets looks. Been known before now to be stopped at filling stations and asked about it.

Youngsters {LOL

} do seem to appreciate the quirky looks of the XM more than oldies. The other day I had some teenagers (Boys and Girls) looking down, pointing and waving from the school bus while stopped at lights...and mine's just standard...not a cockroach on steroids.

I have had kids before now staring at the car rising up to high setting. They cant believe it and even the parents don't quite know what it is and how it's doing it.
And as for the drunk chap at Portsmouth docks in awe of Matthews gold V6. That was very funny!

Often get the same here. Passenger kids in cars on motorways take long looks, and are obviously asking the adults "What is that...?", which then gets the adults peering as well. They probably haven't seen one before, and on present numbers down here, probably never will again.
When you stop to think, it's extraordinary how rapidly the XM has become a significant rarity.

Im going to treat myself tomorrow, me and the car are off over to the north island for the day as ive got a meeting down in sussex, its the first time its been off world since the CXM meet over 5 years ago, of course when i booked the ferry last week i didnt realise that Wednesday was going to be a horrific wet and foul day, of course any other day has been and will be lovely and dry so my idea of heading off down the A27 into the rising sun has been somewhat ruined but it should be a nice little trip non the less.

So, off-world, eh? Don't forget to show the passport.
Enjoy the delights of A27 - good place to leave some exhausty cobwebs!
West Sussex was my old stomping ground for nearly 20 years.
Hope the battle-cruiser behaves.
