Sorry Ray, I didn't see your post till after I had tinkered. So here's some pics from the spare engine, a little easier to get at.
You can see the cable, the adjustment locking screws and the arm, which is spring loaded, that rests on the cold idle screw to the left, or the hot which is to the right of the pump. The arm in between the idle screws rests on the screws underneath them. So when the car is cold, the waxstat holds the cable back towards the right which then pulls the arm back and rests on the left cold idle screw underneath it. So I had to pull the mechanism back to the right to get the setting right and tighten up the locking nuts. It's very easy.

Thanks Russ, I just wanted to see what it looked like in case I had a problem with it.

So far so good. Idle is just right now, and it started quickly again. So adjustments have worked.... For now!
Next pressing job is to bleed the brakes. There is definitely a small delay now.

Well so far so good.

The adjustments seem to have worked and it's barking into life very well now. Idle is great.
I think there is a little electrical issue, as when I turn the key nothing happens then suddenly it cranks. So there is a delay. Odd. I expect it's earth or connections, maybe the inhibitor relay. Otherwise it could still be my hunch of ignition switch wearing out. I will investigate when I get a moment. But at least it's not starting in a cloud of smoke now.

And in true XM fashion, it's fixed its ignition delay issue today. Any relation to it raining???? Hmmm, who knows.
I don't expect it to last!

Call it boredom... blame the weather! A thought popped into my head today. What would an XM coupe look like?

That would look awesome with a shorter wheelbase, cut and shut at the back window and its a winner but I like where you've gone with that.
