1993 2.1TD SED IN SILVER AUTO For Sale (On E-Bay)

Post by XMX » Mon Nov 23, 2009 4:02 pm

As title listing spotted on E-Bay unfortunately an Auto :!:
But a good spec./example colour, only 2 owners, approx. 105K and had a new water pump/cam belt fitted on 97000 miles.
Some MOT/issue's, why didn't they get the minor bits repaired and get a years MOT on it before they listed the car
It would then realize a better price and makes it simpler for a prospective new owner to be able to collect it,
(Could be a good buy for someone) :?:
An XM if for life, (Not just for Christmas) !

Looks like a very nice car! I think the wheels are a later addition; AFAIK it would have had the early 24 valve type alloys originally...

mine were standard?, mind you having said that mine was a special model, so the wobbly webs were probably part of the package....... but they were introduced at this time.

Hi All

The 1993 XM brochures show photos of cars with "etoille" alloy wheels.
The "etoille" was the new alloy wheel introduced the previous year for the launch of the XM Estate model.
Up to this time all XM's had been fitted with the original (large centre disk) alloys except the V6-24v which was fitted with "V6 24 soupes" alloys.
In the 1993 brochure spec section they refer to two types of alloy wheels - "sports alloy wheels" and "alloy wheels"
The "sports alloy wheels" were now standard on SEi and SED models. These will be "24v alloys".
The "alloy wheels" were a cost option on Si and SD models. These were "etoille" alloys.
By the 1994 brochures "etoille" alloys were additionally added as a free option including to the specially badged low spec cars.
This was part of the clear out of outdated stock ready for the 1995 model year Mk2 launch the following year.
With the first years Mk2's Citroen reverted to "24v alloys" for top spec "Exclusive" cars and "etoille" alloys as a paid for option on VSX's.
For the 1996 model year they dropped the "24v alloys" and introduced the "Monte Carlo alloys" for top spec "Exclusive" cars.

Sounds spot on John, and correct!

The 24v "Sort" alloys are STILL the best! :D

Here here! Although the wobbly webs are quite nice, I have to say I despise the 'faux minilite' wheels the later cars suffered, but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
