OMG dudes...
Damned parasites. Why would we need software that's able to clutter up every forum which is "100% legal"?

I must have missed that one.
I did hear once that bots, if they manage to insert themselves on a forum will scan and look for a section headed "General" and this is one of the areas they will post crap. True? I don't know.

Be careful there's three more on the memberslist now. One flogging fags from his site.

One option I've seen on other forums is to stipulate a time clause where once someone registers they must make their 1st post within a certain time frame eg 7 days. If not the account is closed. The usual argument is people will join but not post but still login. But you can still read the content without joining, why join if you are not going to post? This is one way of deleting spammers and bots and also stopping 1 zillion non posting members.

Re: OMG!! Dudes @ VerifiedFile.com Create Software that Breaks C
At the moment the spam bots are very easy to spot due to not only the usernames themselves, but the email addresses they register from, the interests they enter etc, its all very familiar.
That said, there are several legitimate members in the database with zero posts who have registered and not yet posted anything.
The trouble is a lot of the spam accounts will never post anything, but the registrations clutter up the memberlist with crap (namely the stupid looking names and most notably, the links in their profiles). I'm currently deleting them at the rate of about 25 a day, this has increased from around 10 or so that it was this time last week.
I really am going to try and find some time to install the anti-spam modifications tonight, which will insert a random, humanised question into the registration and hopefully prevent any further automated signups. It amazes me that these things are able to beat the image requirement on registration.

Indeed, I've just deleted almost 30 of them there!
Have just about had enough, I had a massive sandwich, a pot of coffee, and actually have half an hour free, so its time to configure the thing to catch out these spammers, or at least give them a damn good thrashing
