24v wanted

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

But that's not what he said. He said he isn't likely to be keeping the Honda.

PS - that's my 24v on Ebay, so I guess I do like lower miles after all :D

Just a note, in your ebay advert you state your XM has the fastest engine....

The series 1 V6 24v XM was significantly faster then the Series 2.

Not picking fault, just thought you'd be interested to know.

I sold my Series 2 V6 earlier this year, am now waiting on another one to come my way.

Lovely cars, so quiet, comfy and refined. A very very underrated car IMO.

Best of luck with the sale, the car looks goregous.

Hi David

Well I suppose I was talking currently, and the best combination (imo) of all the options. The Mk1 24v was indeed very nippy, but on balance I wouldn't swap it for a very late 24v, manuals are just too much hard work for my poor old, motorbike accident bashed up knee I'm afraid :D . Although I do have fond memories of them as I owned H564 GDP one of the couple of press 24v's Citroen had, some journalist had even suggested that all his doors be changed - which I later benefitted from. It was a smashing car, but did just stop in the middle of the street when it fancied; also the later suspension improvements make the power output of the 24v easier to deal with, as I do remember a few hairy moments when I over powered through sharp corners only to find myself almost driving staright into a hedge or another driver!! I think the only benefit of the Mk1 was that there was no electronic jiggery pokery between you & the power, you just put your foot down & you're off, where as in the Mk2 the ZF box trys to decide what you're up to & then gives you the power, so in that respect the Mk1 was a little more of a (dreaded phrase) 'drivers car'. I think I've owned all the power & gearbox combos pretty much, except for the 2.1 TDs, which I'm not too worried about ;)

Funnily enough I think my Mk1 took me to the fastest I've ever been on a public road 138 (make up your own unit of speed), and there was plenty more to go; can I just say in my defense it was a new stretch of motorway, it was sunny & it was empty, thank you Mi Lud!

Cheers - Justin

I was about to say, I knew I recognised that numberplate, but seems I'm one digit out:

Well spotted, that was the sister car, both in blood clot burgundy (apologies to any fans of that colour).

I've got a few of the magazine write ups showing my old car, great fun to se your motor in print. I sold her to a nice Ozzie chap in 1998 I think; wonder if she's still going, I have a nasty feeling not, but I'd like to be wrong.

My dad nearly bought another burgundy one to keep the 2 we've already got company a few years ago.

It was H565 GDP.

Shame it was in need of a lot of work. One of them being the clutch.

H564 GDP is currently unlicensed and has been since 1st August 2001.

H565 GDP is currently on a SORN and isn't due to be renewed until 1st July 2010.

Just thought it might of been of interest to someone.

Hi Justin (And Welcome),
Its very easy anyone can get the vehicle info from the DVLA on-line service !
When you've opened up the above link just go to the 'Vehicle Enquiry Tab' on the left-hand side, then hit the 'next' tab (On the right) and then put the reg. number in the box and vehicle make etc. and there you have it ;)
An XM if for life, (Not just for Christmas) !
