Oh Russ, no problems doing an engine swap but wimping out of a little rubber mount and a ball joint.

Luckily i done the lower joints a few years back, maybe 8 or 9 years ago and greased rather than thread locked them on assembly, the engine mount is a little tricky granted, but i have done one before and have developed a very cunning plan, im doing it in situe but being a 2.0 i have excellent access to press it in with a vice, a blow torch and a freezer with lots of lubricant and a litle sanding tool, i remain optimistic ;) this sunday will see battle commence so wish me luck!

I would be very interested to hear how you get on with the lower engine mount Dean as I recently bought some replacement inserts and have not yet been successful with installation and the brackets are actually off the car!! I tentitively tried the heating and freezing trick but the fit is extremely tight. With regards, Matthew T.

The trick Matthew is to make the fit a little less tight ;) , without a large press, fitting would be impossible, i prefer to carefully sand back the centre 3/4 of the alloy casting and drive the bushing in, many times i have driven the bush in off the car and got stuck 3/4 of the way in which isnt much good.

Possible to use a hydraulic bottle jack, and a few bits of hefty steel section, welded/bolted up?
You're right about using a vise, though: it can do a good job. I've only snapped one vise in half, but that was in my youth.

Why can you not just wind it in.
Two round steel plates, one the size of the bush, the other the size of the mount.
Hole through the centre and a large nut and bolt.
Grease the washers under the nut and wind away with a couple of spanners.

I Just found the large Vise easy although i do have some chunky angle and large nuts and bolts should more power be required.
