First task russ.. Slacken the fuel pipes to the injectors.. Prime the fuel up to the pump and then spin the engine over.. Once fuel spurts out the top of each injector close each one up.. Once all four are closed cycle the heater plugs then go for a proper start.. Obviously there will be zero life untill she is all primed up properly. A damm good strong battery essential for this.

Thanks for that tip Paul, but infact, it didn't need it. It's alive!!!
It sprang into life almost immediately on first turn over. I was amazed.
But all is not totally well. The Blimmin hydraulics won't pressurise. I have primed the hydraulic pump feed pipe twice. Each time barely any LHM goes down. It just spills out when you put the pipe back on. I have opened the bleed screw three times and let it idle. I have closed it with the engine running. It's been in full height, it's been on low setting. There's no bubbles appearing in the LHM tank at all. The only thing I can think off, is it's not happy on axel stands. Would that make a difference??? Or not enough LHM in the tank maybe.
So annoying!
Oh and I am amazed at how much ATF oil has drained out the gearbox. It's over three litres in there now and it needs more. Loads more! Only just got a level on the very tip of the dipstick with the engine idling.

To prime the pump open the bleed screw then fill the suction pipe and run the engine watching for the fluid level dropping int he suction pipe. Stop the engine and reconnect the suction pipe ensuring both ends are tight.

I had similar problems the other day when replacing a pump Russ and it does sometimes take a little perseverance! As Will states, you need to open and shut the accumulator bleed screw often several times and fill the suction pipe until the level drops! That is excellent news about engine starting and running and a great feeling from my own experience! With regards, Matthew T.
