The engine out the grey xm has been sorted. It had a new gasket as part of the sale, amongst many other things.
The mandarins engine, I plan to fix up and have it as a spare maybe.. It hasn't overheated put it that way. Got a great gearbox on it too, which is definitely staying with me. 8-) . It would be good to 'practice' things on it. I won't be doing any work on it straight away though.

I have hit a small snag. Only minor but some opinions would be very much appreciated. I'm currently sorting out which hydraulic pipes that need to be disconnected from the LHM tank filter housing, which will be taken out with the engine and which will remain. It's obvious which ones go where...Ie pump feed pipe ect.

Now on my grey xm engine, I stupidly cut the little clear pipe at the tank end, that runs to the regulator.
On the mandarin engine it's disconnected from the LHM side at the moment, but I need to swap it over to the grey engine. This pic shows it's connection on the regulator. It's held with a worm drive clip in both engines, but I can't seem to remove it. Just don't want to break it. Is it best to simply swap the regs over, or can I disconnect the pipe.

The other pipe issue I need to figure out, runs to the steering rack and splits off to the engine. Can't remember where too now! I'm wondering if I can disconnect it at the other end rather than the rack. This afternoons investigation.

I'm nearly there, I have the drive shafts and exhaust and that should be it. Ready to lift.

This is the subframe condition. Most of it seems to be pickled by oil and wot not. Can't wait to clean it all up, treat the rust and paint it up. 8-) :D

You should be able to pull the clear pipe out of the rubber ferrule.

The pesky exhaust is now released. Just got to deal with the pesky driveshafts. :roll:

Driveshaft nuts. Both off now. Lower ball joint bolt.... Another storey. This flipping engine could be out tomorrow, but now totally stuck!
So I rust treated the bumper bar instead. :lol:

Yes, I know ...it's an easy job, but I have only attempted one, the passenger side ...and the thread and bolt now move together after not much effort. I think the whole lot might be buggered. The other side I will try tomorrow. I lost Interest this afternoon!
