Re: Stunning....
I was looking at that one earlier, no driving that to the shops and leaving it out in the rain, that's one to preserve for the future.
So place your bets gentlemen, if it sells how long do you think it's going to take?

Re: Stunning....
Yes very nice Russ and Pearl is quite a rare colour, although such a shame it is not a top spec V6! How funny that these 'never seen before' 'G' and 'H' plate cars just keep appearing. The build date is not quite so early as Neil's car I think but the two would make a nice matching pair. The history is also well explained and quite interesting and one of my V6 12v went through Citroen Hammersmith. My bet is that it will be snapped up by WHM and soon afterwards appear at a slightly higher price! With regards, Matthew T.

Re: Stunning....
Can't see there being enough margin for WHM unless he can know the price down, the seller wants to see it in enthusiast hands too so that may help.
Neil's car is 4788 and this one is 4768 making it a little earlier, not anywhere near as old as yours though Matthew.

Re: Stunning....
Hopefully you are right about not selling to WHM Dean and many thanks for correcting me on the RP. There was an mandarin rhd 2.0i slightly earlier than Neil's at the last CXM, but I cannot remember what the margin was! With regards, Matthew T.

Absolutely, this is for a carcoon only. No driving in the rain...just for looking at basically.Dean wrote:I was looking at that one earlier, no driving that to the shops and leaving it out in the rain, that's one to preserve for the future.

From his description, I have a feeling I remember this car for sale at the citroen dealer he mentions. I even think it went for about £500.

Re: Stunning....
Which gets us into the fascinating realm of "recent classics, too good to drive"!
Reminds me a little of the 1977 Rover 2200 auto that turned up at an Alexandra Palace Rover Rally (in 1988, to celebrate the 25th birthday of the P6 launch). It arrived, unannounced and unexpected, on a trailer, and had a genuine 21 miles on the clock!
The dealer was asking mega-bucks, but no-one was interested. Why? Its value lay solely in that low mileage, and as soon as it were driven, the value would plummet. You can work out the cost per mile in driving it 1000 miles!!
Despite having the original Radiomobile and radio aerial in the boot (these were for dealers to fit), together with all its sales brochures and receipts, an untouched tool wrap, and possibly the original air in the tyres, there was an unavoidable downside . . . it was finished in SD1 Avocado, with Mango cloth interior. That was 1977 for you!

Re: Stunning....
I would be terrified of driving it. Most of mine have several scuffs and dings when I buy them so I don't cringe when I park to close to a wall or something. Does look rather nice though.

Re: Stunning....
I am sorry but I don't agree...
If, I would buy such a car, I would just drive it. Because that's what the car was made for. For that money you buy such a good car you'd get so much fun out of before it get's a bit 'old'. I am not saying I would not look after it but I generally don't care about low or high mileage and 'rest' value. Besides, it's only grey as are most new cars, has no floor mats....leather seats...Do not worry anyone, I will not be buying it. However I do think, it is worth a bit more

Re: Stunning....
I do agree, a car should be driven but its value (if proven) is down to its condition and those little numbers on the clocks, condition could be kept up to a degree but you would be destroying your investment by adding miles.
This all depends on whether the market values it for its low miles, prestine condition or both....................
So long as it is pristine, riding a bit high at the front and unfortunately it does have a dealer history
