It's booked in for the 1st of July Rob, I will no doubt report on what is found.

It will I time be treated to a new pair of wheels. I have finally got my Italia alloys from John yesterday. So a nice relaxing project to do over the rest of the summer. Looking forward to it.

Well, what a trip. Had a fantastic time completing the Classic Citroen Challenge with Matthew. The car was fantastic to drive and has left a bad desire for one. 8-)

I won't go into full details, as Matthew has left a great blog on the whole thing. I am now a walking zombie and yesterday was particularly hard, but I would recommend it to anyone, provided maybe our idea of a service van with all spare parts is taken next time! . It was really great fun. :D

As always, you didn't need any of the spare parts and the one that you needed, you didn't bring ;)

I'll refuse driving any of Matthews V6's because I'll want one too. You should not feel like a zombie - you didn't drive a Nissan No or some other uncomfy car!

I have me car back! It's spent the last few days with the Westons having an MOT and a little trouble with a split steering rack gaiter. The kind that is no longer available from Citroen.... As it turns out..... ARGH!

So I am waiting to get the specific details about which one it is, I think it's the near side one, but I might need some help with tracking down a good replacement. Typically non OE parts don't last, they pop off due to no ridge, or so I believe.
so there we go guys, steering rack gaiters are no longer available from Citroen.

The car failed it's mot, but promptly passed after a small hole was welded up on the exhaust and the front brake hoses replaced. Actually not surprising and was expected. Otherwise no other advisories. Which is good. :D

Citroen rack gaiters for a 2.5 were available 6 weeks ago as I bought a few sets.
Not the small size ones that most XM's use.
Ram one on the passenger side is common to all XM's but the cap and drivers side ones fit on the thicker track rods.

Well done on the MOT result Russ and I hope you manage to find the gaiter required! I agree that genuine gaiters are worth seeking out and I have also purchased from a main dealer in the recent past. Did you take the rack off your old car per chance? With regards, Matthew T.

Thanks chaps, it was a lot better than expected. :)

I did take off my old rack from the grey car. So this is another way of getting one, if it's in okay condition of course.
I wonder if it's worth trying my local Citroen dealer, but to be honest it's probably a waste of time.
