Just going back to Pump issues, I tried a pump swap for Vince initially, however, by the time Id got Vince's pump off bearing in mind the days were short at this time, Id not noticed at all the three Studs were in the wrong place!

Increadably annoyed with myself once Vince's boys had found this, ive not let myself go over it since! Had Id more light that day I would may well of spoted it, because when I fitted another pump I had here, I also had a running problem where the car wouldnt run, I actually blamed the fuel pump, but of course now, it may not of been. I never thought about the Pegs as Id no reason to, and for what ever reason they were moved in the first place. When I had the car in originally two years ago, Id no reason to touch the pump so that original setup comes from previous owners..

Anyway.. moving on from there - stunning pictures. Could do with my 24v looking like that Vince!

Vince, what paint did you use for the black trim? Also what primer did you use?

Mine needs sharpening up to contrast with the white paint.

I'd be careful Rob, your car is early and they had grey bumpers and not the darker black which followed.

Strange you should mention that.......Off to play with the car today and will be looking at the splits in the bumpers. I have identified the right repair materials for the SMC that the bumpers are made of. I assume there is no paint code as they were originally unpainted on the grey parts.

I found this stuff on the internet and it looks like a very good alternative to repainting the black plastic as any sort of additional finish is prone to flaking or just looking 'wrong'.

It is expensive but all the videos show that you use a tiny amount and the reviews seem excellent.

The bumper are however rather battle scarred and will require a more drastic approach.

If you just wished to restore bumper colour to black I have used Indian ink on occasions that is very effective, fully reversible and lasts surprisingly well! With regards, Matthew T.

Indian ink? In what form and how do you apply it?

Intrigued!

I would have thought from any art or craft shop. Maybe a hobby craft store. It's a normal art supply.
Wipe on with a cloth and wipe away any excess would be my technique.

Interesting trim restorer you found Rob. Food for thought......

I just use Meguiars. Rub it on sparingly, see what a mess it looks after a half hours work, wait another half hour and it looks superb. :D
