Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
Small update..
Managed to take the 24v for a run the other day! She ran perfectly, and nicely.. Throughly enjoyed it!
However, before I went, I had to look into a heater issue, which was there when I went to Cosford. Neither flow Direction or Heat controller servo motors worked, so the air flow was stuck on screen, and the temperture was on cold. So, now with the colder weather and condensation on the inside of the screen I had to get the motors off..
Side panels off and drivers side motor off, and the motors are dead, and the flap control levers dont seem tooo stiff..
However, while I was in there I also noticed a dodgy Heater Matrix and weeping seals... so thats where my very slow water leak is. So,a matrix is now needed for her!
Currently the heat is now manually control, be reaching the side of the heater an moving the lever manually...
Ive a few servo's about to fit and see what happens...

Glad you are still enjoying her Paul. It's good to just to go for a drive now and again. I took mine for a blast this afternoon. Haven't used her in a week. Still trying to dry out the carpet after the heater matrix o ring replacement. Fiddly job...Well you can ask Jaap that, as he did mine!

Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
Done a good few, its not too bad if you get a "bendy Sided" bucket, you can then corner the side under the heater pipes and lets what bit of water drain into the bucket..
If I had the TD Diesel XM on the road, then it wouldnt be a now and again use, Id be useing her all the time!

Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
Not a lot happened a lot lately sadly, however I did fit in a matrix change on the car...
Already having the side trims off the centre console due to inoperative heater servo motors the unit was about a 30 min swap.
I put a large bowl trapped under the parking brake lever, and undid the feed pipes, loos of water yes, but not a system drain down..
Anyway.. upon removal I was stunned to find the following info on the unit:
Yes, an original Valeo, 1989 unit! That lasted well!!
Done now, just need to tackle the loose HP pump belt now for the third time. Hopeing a new belt should now stop the stretching and be done with once and for all!
But thats it for now Got a few interior jobs to do and tidy up sometime soon!

Gosh yes that is quite impressive service for a heater matrix Paul! With regards, Matthew T.

Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
Well suprisingly progress today, small, but progresss..
I needed to change the HP pump belt, it wore out on the trip to and from Cosford... I decided to just cut it off so Id not useit again
Armed with a 10mm wide 665mm length belt went to fit it... however, discovered the belt I took off was a longer 672mm belt..
I must of changed the HP pump at some point for one with a bigger pully, the 665mm belt has only just gone on at the slackest setting, and its tight too...
The belt removed im not suprised it was slipping looked like this:
After some messing and fettleing the 665 belt is on and she was lovly, and the PAS was smooth too with no belt flap or slipping.
Next job I noticed the Blower had stopped working... I had noticed it was a bit squeeky in operation, but decided it had stopped, I noticed the wires to it were a bit... urrrmmm warm... so, out i took it..
It was simply the top and bottom pivot points that had partly siezed. A bit of 3 n 1 later and some jaggleing, and free she came!
Reassembled, put it back in, connected it all up... and hey presto, a nice quiet smooth blower motor!
Next issue, both servo motors are dead. Ive found a dissasembly and test page.. I shall have a go with that and see what happens.
Though not a massive issues theres a fair few more to choose from at the stock...
Incedentailly, a looming job in the future is showing its face too....
What a cracking dashboard.... no, litterally, ive never seen an XM dash crack up before..
Thank god they are not a massive issue to remove and fit when the time comes, but for now, more important things need sorting out.

Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
The dashboard cracking is unusual for the UK. I guess it's due to hot cold cycling when in storage.

Re: ANOTHER 24v ON THE ROAD!!!
It's not originated from a hot RHD market has it? A lot of Australian cars have cracked/split/warped dashboards.
