Re: Vince's xm - IT LIVES! WITH A FRESH MOT
ANY hose can Fail Vince! But one thats possibly more likely then any other is the Bottom rad hose to the back of the engine on the thermostat house.
They decided to make a METAL centre section where it passes the side of the crank pully and sits ontop of the drivers side subframe. Its well hidden from obvious view. the 2.1 TD's are also the same too!!
The H reg 2.1 SED my mate has got has suffered two cooling pipe failiures. One was a split on the pipe that goes from under the cold start unit to the top of the oil cooler, it split right at the oil cooler.. the second was another oil cooler pipe at the other end!!
it can be never ending over what to keep - for me now, I KEEP everything!

Thanks for the info guys.....ill start by checking my hoses....see what looks ropey.
Paul i bought mine of you on friday 13th 2012
It has dis-proven the superstition of bad luck with very actual good luck.
Great car and has been very reliable and cheap to run

Check the hose behind the fuel pump, that one seems to suffer badly as well. Mine looked fine a couple of weeks before when I changed the 4 rubber connectors, I had a good look but didn't take it off. It has 90 degree angel and can split apparently. I would recommend you to find a replacement or get one made later on. I am planning to have all hoses remade.

Can't really tell....I've got to go to the UK to get Russ' old hoses and get them organised...best guess will be January or February if the weather is good enough to travel abroad, Vince. I might get a few don...got to work it all out yet.

Re: Vince's xm - IT LIVES! WITH A FRESH MOT
Greetings all....
Well the xm has had a few new things bought for it...
Finally got a bag of new wheel arch liner grommets and replaced the knackered ones ive had for ages. This will stop the winter weather being thrown into the front bumper bracket areas...Ive got 3 spares left over if anyone needs one as they come in a pack of 5 from citroen
A new right hand dot matrix display from Paul to replace my dead one which has been half green since i bought the car 2 years ago
A NOS Citroen oil level sensor as mine has never worked....How many of these still exist brand new from citroen?
A NOS coolant hose, the one that is by the Bosch pump to the coolant flange where the top hose meets the head.
A replacement side repeater for the drivers side which has been cracked for the last 2 years
Looking ahead (after christmas probably) i still want to get hold of the following:
New headlamp inners, the front chrome trims inside the glass have both been removed by a previous owner as he thought it looked better
Needless to say it wasnt Paul
Rear hatch inner glass screen and trim - Paul says he has one so fingers crossed it will still be available when i have the spare cash ready
A door card upgrade so i have the arm rest storage cubby holes in the front aswell as the rears
No doubt there will be other bits and bobs along the way...
And the ultimate maybe will be a full respray in the new year ready for show season, wheel trims refurbed and all - Going for the brand new look
I think that would be something on a diesel with over 200K miles on it . It wont cost me anything other than materials to paint it as the plan is ill be doing it myself
