Well im £220 lighter in my pocket but the old bus is through its MOT HOORAY! :D

I popped down today to pay the guys at Paris as the car is currently parked at their place until thursday when it will get kindly picked up by Will and ferried back to my house. The neighbours have been asking me where its gone as its been driveway art for so long now :P

I inspected the repaired sections today and was mighty impressed...a very neat job and one side doesnt even look like its ever been touched. Nice and straight jacking points now too 8-)

Apparently no advisories at all when it was tested but then i suppose ive had a year and a half to get it ready

Due to financial pressures....ie James turns 18 in december and its christmas...and Linda still hasnt found anything yet, it wont get taxed until the end of October when the tax changes to being able to pay monthly direct debit...which they should have done years ago!!! Until then i have the Nissan ;)

I have a decent bit of car work still rolling in so that should pay for most of Christmas.... :)

Roll on the xm rally this weekend...ill be down on the sunday ;)

That's great news Vince. I'm already jealous of your sills and straight jacking points!! 8-)

Ashame you can't get it taxed in time, but the MOT pass is brilliant news and a huge step closer to finally getting it on the road. Bet you can't wait.

Good show, I hope it'll behave after not being used for such a long time. Great idea swapping it for a Nissan.

Russ, yes its so close i can almost taste it

Cap'n H, im fingers crossed its going to behave after such a long lay off.....ill take it real easy anyway for a while....its had a recent headgasket when it was rebuilt a while back. its been run regularily whilst its been off the road and driven up and down the speed bumped street weekly to keep the brakes and suspension in working order.

I forgot to mention ive dropped off 4 litres of fresh LHM today at Paris and asked Paul to change the lhm, bleed out any accumulated crap at each caliper end and clean out the reservoir and filter. Next on the list will be an engine oil change then a coolant change i think ahead of winter....Im not touching the coolant system though until i have acquired some new coolant hoses...They are my biggest worry at the moment...that and the clutch cable...only because they seem to be the hardest things to get your hands on easily in the event of a breakdown ;)

Its had new tyres since its been laid up and a new rear exhaust section also...new wipers, rad is good, a new battery, new bulbs, earths checked and repaired....its been cossetted a bit

Very, very good Vince! I know about older coolant hoses and you can get new ones in any shape or form, remade. Same goes for clutch cables by the way. The only downside to that is, that they need to know the original length of coruse :) But I guess you can find out the original length somehow.

Get some pics when you get her going!

Ive been looking at the idea of getting new hoses made up, but where is a good place to start? Are there any hoses in particular that are prone to failing? Can you recommend any places that remake them?

Dont worry about the pictures side of things....there will be plenty of trips out to get reacquainted with its stylish flanks...camera in hand :)

Fantastic news Vince. Shame she won't be at the rally though. Never mind, there's always more events next year! :)

Might be worth contacting this company. http://www.samcosport.com/uk/ I know they do a range called 'classic' which is a matt black in colour.
