My local indy raised concerns about the strut tops on my grey XM when it was in for the heater matrix replacement. Now Malcolm at Savoy, who has done some work on the car for the friend who is looking after it, has raised the same concerns more strongly.
The car will be coming back to me in late autumn, and given how good Malcolm is, I'd like to get the remaining issues sorted by him before I decide what to do with the car.

Which part are they saying is duff, the metal or rubber?
For rubber the best solution is to send them to http://www.elastomer.eu/ (kingas)

Hmmmmm id like to think my judgement was pretty good charles.
strut tops under the bonnet looked iffy.. but under the wing which is important they are perfectly good..
I would NOT of sold you the car with duff tops... no way.. so im not sure why they think they are bad.
base plates were solid.. and the rubber cones certainly were not pushing out.

I believe that takes a month or so, during which time the car is off the road, which is not a goer for me.Dieselman wrote:Which part are they saying is duff, the metal or rubber?

I'm simply going on what I have been told twice (I ignored the local chap) but it was confirmed to me that it wasn't the tops under the bonnet (they have been tidied up) but from an under wing inspection by Malcolm - he may have a different tolerance for these things, it is not a criticism. By the time these are done it is going to be a year pretty much since I picked up the car and it has had a good amount of driving in the meantime. I'd rather have them done by a real XM specialist while it is near him (until October) than have to put up with my local indy at twice the price.citroenxm wrote:Hmmmmm id like to think my judgement was pretty good charles.
