Re: CitroJim's Citroens
One of my return pipes went last year, fortunately I was moving the car forward and noticed a load of LHM on the road, so didn't loose much LHM or got stuck anywhere. Once I had replaced the pipe, looking at the old one, it was as you describe John, like it had been slashed the entire length with a meat slicer. Totally perished. I think I might get a another spare for the other side just incase!

I always have a couple of spares of those in stock. In fact most common failure items I have spares of... Balljoints, swivels and the like...

You won't lose much fluid from a ruptured leak off pipe, it isn't part of the active flow system.
The fluid you see is what has come out of the pipe, not actually flowing fluid.

Dunno. It has a 12v battery... A very tiny one.citroenxm wrote:And here we are... Is the C1 a 12v or 6v engine?
Paul, you must understand my C1 is simply an appliance for getting me where I need to go. I believe there's quite a perky little engine lurking under the bonnet and I know it is very small but beyond that I know nothing bar it is very economical and free of tax...
It's a bit like asking me what sort of motor powers my washing machine

I must take a picture of the engine bay one day. Give you all a good giggle...

Wont make me giggle! I experiance the Daihatsu Charade, 1.0 Auto! It was a 1988 D reg rounded shape, 3 cylinder 6 valve and auto! I LOVED IT!
Ive also seen Recent Polos with 3 cylinders. Making a come back now, where Daihatsu had them fitted decades ago.
The Charade to get which was awesome for its time was the GTti, 3 cylinders, 12v Dohc head, Fuel injection, Turbo Charger! 99bhp!!

Re: CitroJim's Citroens
I beg to differ about loss of LHM fluid from a ruptured front leak of pipe.
From practical experience had a pipe go somewhere after Gloucester coming south.
Light came up so I went into Cirencester services.
Temporary repair to pipe from bits found in the boot and put in the litre of LHM I had.
This did not bring the float back up and it took another litre and a half when I got back home.

Re: CitroJim's Citroens
The pipe I repaired did not have any cracks or other damage along its entire length. The rubber had hardened and that's why the pipe had sheared right at the tip of the fixed steel return. Raising the car to its maximum height must have put some strain on the rubber. If you bend an old rubber pipe that has broken you will see a series of cracks as though it has been attacked by a bacon slicer.
