The injection pump is probably in bits by now. Wont be done until Friday they have told me.

.... Its occurred to me i haven't been using it at all for about a month..... URGH! To prove it, It put its ABS light on this morning.

You clearly did not do enough to celebrate her birthday either... maybe a pump overhaul will put her in a better mood..

Maybe so. I do feel a bit guilty for totally abandoning it. It must have been wondering what was going on, but you can't drive a car with fuel seeping out all over the place.!
I was busy on her birthday, with my Grandmothers birthday lunch.... Hence the little indiscretion!

Its back in action.

The Xm has just spent the last two and a half days having its injection pump totally resealed and re calibrated at Cheltenham Diesel specialists....... and it feels brill!

All the seals apparently were going, so it was a matter of time before the whole lot would have let go. If one seal was replaced, it would have been within weeks the rest would have gone and cost even more to fix chasing leaks. SO in the long run, although eye wateringly expensive, it is the cheaper option and it is done with 12 month guarantee too. Also the rubber joints on the manifold to the block have been changed, as they were to be found full of silicon sealant and were misshapen leaking valuable boost pressure. So its no wonder it feels more spritely.

So next job the steering coupling. and I have found one.... so just going to buy it now.

Oh.... and the fuel gauge, glow plug light and ABS are all working... so Edith must be happy!

Best thing is Jim, they enjoyed working on it. Very complimentary. Something quite different other than the alarming amount of Astra diesels in there! They said it got a lot of looks whilst they had it.

Good to brighten up their week!

This will sound bloody stupid, but they have moved things around! I can get to the pesky screw that adjusts the cold idle setting now.
Not that I need to. All looks fine. Did get a slight ' oh my god' moment and found two coolant pipes dripping green coolant down the sump. Nipped up the jubilee clips and they are dry again. Thought it was a split pipe for a moment. Anyway, nothing to serious.

Oil change, filters and a good hydraulic bleed tomorrow.
