All sounds good Jim. Well done. Is that the typical Kingas price before VAT and shipping he is charging you or is it becasue your sending a load over? I thought it was more than that. Excellent.

Maybe Will but we must remember this is an XM we're speaking of here. Not all 2.5s or V6s may be the same

It may just be a rare coincidence that Chris's 2.5 ones and my V6 ones actually are...

Hi Jim

Glad the clutch went well.
I can supply another couple to do if if you want try for a speed record.
Hope you reset the torque mounts by the book with the exhaust disconnected.
Get it right and the 2.5 engine will run smoother than a V6.
Interested that Kingas can refurb the torque mounts.
Please get him to put up some photos if you can.

All 2.5 TD's are large diameter hole strut heads.
Cut over dates for the other XM models were later and are not well documented.
Perhaps it would help if we recorded on here what we find on checking by model and ORGA number.
We can assume that once a model changed to large hole there was no reversion.

Hi John,

I must confess Chris and I really enjoyed the job :) Silly me forgot to take my alignment tool and special release bearing engagement tool so I had to fabricate both on-site!

Chris and I will be happy to do more. Our fees are reasonable we think at £999.99 per clutch change. That's excluding parts and delivery/collection...

It's a good, solid weekends' work in all honesty...

Ahh now be most grateful for instructions on how to do that John... Exhaust is not problem to disconnect again...

I find the 2.5 is as smooth as silk. The ride from mine to Paul's and back last week confirmed that!!! Beautiful :P

Good thinking Will..

John, just seen your note on large hole ones. Chris's 2.5 is on an N plate. Not sure of the ORGA but can confirm. My V6 is on an R Plate and ditto on the ORGA.

Both are presently resting on a farm in Bedfordshire minus their strut tops... Talking together and no doubt plotting their next trick to spring on us... I'll gather their ORGAs later this week...

Tim, if you read this!

Other good thing about removing the engine, full fluid flush near enough for all systems!

Hi Jim

No need to check on the 2.5 ORGA's they were all large strut ex factory.

The engine mount set up is document XM 133-00/4.
All the MG5 gear box types and ratios XM 330-00/3.

Both documents should be in the workshop manual pages that I sent you a while back.
Let me know if you cannot find them.

Thanks John, I shall go and look...

It's been a funny old day..

V6 Xantia, Robyn and I have just arrived home in a recovery lorry. V6 Xantia threw her toys this afternoon just outside Bicester with a split regulator return hose and dumped most of her LHM..

So, with the XM off the road and the Activa still needing a new wheel bearing I'm having to borrow Robyn's 207 for the run to Somerset tomorrow...
