Rear windows on base models are exercise windows for arms and have a funny lever to wind them down and dont need power either..  .. im not a fan of exercise windows.. I prefer powered ones.. but some prefer manual ones

vince's xm has these strange manual ones fitted in the rear.

I realise he has a faulty front switch though.. yes they are easy to take apart and it is useually dust in the contacts that cause the issue.

Fantastic, sounds like an easy enough fix even I can manage :)

Loving the fact that the windows don't need to work for the MOT...one less thing to worry about :P

Your right Will, im getting there...once the new tyre is fitted then I could do with dropping it off in Bolton if that's still not a problem ;)

All good with me fella. If the tyre will get it there just chuck it in the boot and get it done while it's there if you can. Saves having it on axle stands for a day or two in front of your house, and keeps the mrs happier! :D ;)

Well, tonight is the night....dropping the car off for the MOT process.... :|

Its amazing how anxious it can make you feel....I don't even need to drive the car at the moment, but pride and love for it makes me hope that it passes with a clean sheet and no nasty surprises are found.

Fingers crossed it will all go well ;)

Ill give it a good clean up today so its looking its best for when Will and I take it over later today.

Thankyou.....but alas the garage has delayed me as they didn't have any storage space for it overnight yesterday so it will go in this week, hopefully tomorrow night ;)

I cant push them really as they are doing this for free for me so I will need to be patient :)

I will get there.....also means I can play with it a little more today :D

Thanks Jim, and also Will who drove the car over a little earlier today for me :)

My anxiety levels have most definitely risen dropping the car off.... :|

It will have done it a world of good today having been driven over to Bolton..which is about 16 miles ish from here including a decent stretch of motorway driving so all the systems got a good workout...especially brakes, suspension and cooling systems ;)

Will says it drove perfectly so im happy that after being laid up for a year (at the end of this month) it performs in this way....I guess me moving it about up and down the street a few times in that time has kept the vitals working...i was seriously expecting something to break or stop working due to lack of use but all good so far....

Ive given the garage some tips on how to interact with the xm including "dont use the jacking points" use the subframe to support it when they do the inner cv boot. I also checked to make sure we have a ball joint on the shelf at work in case they knacker the old one getting it out of the way.

I cant bear the car being in the hands of anyone other than Paris Autos who usually do the work....its scary :?

Ill keep that in mind then Vince! ;)

Id EXPECT the car to drive well! It drove exceptionally well when I had it, and you havent done a lot of miles.. ;-)

GOOD LUCK, But I have a feeling, she will be fine!
