Are there any special procedures to removing the wingmirror glass on the passenger side. Got a new temp sensor for it, and wondered if there is a unique XM method. Usually you just gently pull the glass out from the clips.

I did check the HBOL and it shows a mk2 and describes a clip you must unhook first. But can't see this clip on the mk1 mirror.

Hi Russ

Same clip wire is there on both early and late designs of Mk1 mirror.
Looped ends of clip wire are bottom centre of mirror.

The clip can be released by tilting the mirror glass upwards for maximum access Russ, and then inserting a sharp knife and pulling the end of the wire to one side. With regards, Matthew T.

Thanks very much for the tip Matthew, very helpfull. :D I haven't had a play yet, been treating some more lenses today as we have had blazing sunshine all day, another successful outcome!
So will be hopefully fitting the new sensor soon. It's been a year now since it went ping. On the way to the X rally actually!

It is official, XM's really do get jealous if you cheat on them with another car!  I have had to do some tinkering with my old and now my sisters KA whilst she has been down from Newcastle. Caught some rusty blemishes on the sills which have now been banished. Had to change the thermostat gasket and oil and filter and power steering fluid change too. Also undersealed it and just tidied It up. Amazing how a year in a different climate can change a car.

Anyway, for punishment the XM decided it didn't want to give me any aircon or climate control yesterday. The panel was dead. Checked all the relevant fuses, and was totally surprised to find the F2 fuse fine and not melted.
Today I took it down to Tony Westons for a alternator belt change. On the, way half way along the M5, the panel kicked back into life and my dashboard mouse was squeaking again  . Phew! been working fine ever since too. I'm putting it down to the huge amount of extremely heavy rain on Monday evening..... A thunderstorm suddenly blew in. Rain must have got in somewhere! Gonna keep a beady eye on that F2 fuse though. I know it is a common failure point.

I've Just picked it up from the Westons .... Not used them before....and got to say, excellent service. So that little issue is now sorted out for a very agreeable price. :D

I'm now worried Russ, all the time and effort I've been devoting to the Xantias recently, especially the Activa, has seen my poor XM relegated to living up the road in the company of a Vauxhall Agawahtsit (Suzuki Splash clone), being unused and maybe it thinking it's unloved..

I guess I'd better go and see it and give it some love before it really throws its toys!

Perhaps mine will be a little happier that I've only been unfaithful to other Citroens, both of which are close cousins of the XM, especially the one with a TCT engine...

The amount of aggro that particular one has been recently you'd be forgiven for thinking it IS an XM

Touch wood all is now good though... We'll see how she behaves on Sunday...
