Thing is if you lock the car and dead lock and the battery dies the boot is possibly the only option as any other means doesn't always work...

My experience is from a xantia and don't ask how I know!

As far as Vince is concerned, his is a Series One, S1 cars DO NOT have deadlocking, so is not an issue.

Anyway, I provided a solution to a car with a dead battery to lock up close bonnet and then gain access when the door lock barrels do not work.

Locking without a battery and the fuel flap will be unlocked.
That can be a security problem if parked on a drive.

No worries, I'll be away then and its a small trek out of his way to pass by here for some batteries and bits :)

I can save them for a bit longer :)

Appreciate the comments guys and the solution Paul ;)

John I don't need to worry about fuel being nicked...its almost on empty

What ive done is left the bonnet open but sat on the catch if that makes sense....a bit like all yours Paul that I saw when I picked mine up. The door locks do work now yes as I got a set of John a while back, but that's no guarantee that nothing can still go wrong.

Ive decided to leave the battery in situ, jump start it when I need to and ill probably just replace it when it gets back on the road again....after all I do work for a parts company :P
