One thing that has helped is we have realised that even with Linda losing her job recently and us being not so loose with our money, we can still reach the end of the month without being overdrawn and we can still go out with the kids etc every now and again...a big weight off my mind

That's true Vince, eliminating money worries goes a big, big way to resolving a lot of issues...
Money worries are perhaps the worst of all.

I don't think many would disagree with that view, Jim.

Re: Vince's xm
Well guys another few weeks go by and im still not driving the xm
I sooooooo miss it its driving me mad
What I need to get done next week is to get a quote for classic insurance and tot up how much it will cost to get it back on the road insured, mot'd etc.
As it stands it doesn't look like we are going to return to the level of income we once enjoyed
but if I can continue on getting it priced up then I might be able to stash the odd £10 away here or there and add some car money on for any jobs I do to build up the funds.
Being honest I need to do something because it looks at the moment like its never going to return to the road anytime soon...but that cant be the case...I need to be able to drive it
Ah....I remember its last drive so well.....

Re: Vince's xm
If you can garage it and use another car as your main car you should be able to get a competitive classic policy on it - my SM is insured for 5000 miles sd&p with Heritage by Norton and I am paying £110 garaged, with one speeding conviction.

The crashqai will only end up being replaced with something else if it goes though!
Just make sure it's all cleaned up and waxoyled to keep it good

Re: Vince's xm
You'll be back in the XM soon enough I'm sure sure Vince.
can't imagine how frustrating it is to have it on the drive and not be able to use it. But at least you have one. That's the main thing.
the Qumquat is not substitute for it, but at least you have it to try and get a good insurance quote as Charles as mentioned. Sounds good that.
I got in mine after nearly two weeks of not driving It, and you kind of discover it all over again. Infact it has highlighted a few ergonomic benefits over the c5... Better indicator stalks and A pillar visibility for example.

That's when you really appreciate them Russ, and realise how good they are..russ92xmsed wrote: I got in mine after nearly two weeks of not driving It, and you kind of discover it all over again.
Good point on the classic insurance Charles. For as pleasure car it makes insurance affordable.

Vince, don't give up. Linda will find work and you can still keep expanding the refinishing business.
