I had my first session (of ten) of Graded Exercise Therapy (GET) today at Aylesbury and met seven fellow sufferers. We did make quite a motley crew

The idea is that using exercise (The GET bit) and CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) ME can be controlled to an extent and more can be achieved with greater consistency. It's not a cure, just a strategy to help to live with it and be more consistent with fewer peaks and troughs. It might hopefully mean I can be perhaps more consistent on this forum. I certainly need to be.

The first session was bloody hard work, we all agreed we were all absolutely exhausted at the end of it and all looked forward to a good sleep which is precisely what I did as soon as I got home...

Maybe it's a good sign that after waking up I was straight on here :)

The next nine weeks are going to be interesting and I hold out a lot of hope that they will do a lot of good. Watch this space!

Absolutely Russ, anything to iron out the peaks and troughs will be a nice result. It was also good to meet others facing the same issues. Sometimes you can feel very alone with ME and in a way it's good to know you're not. They understand and one of the really big problems is making others understand what the problem is.

Thanks Jaap. I'm still here this morning which is a good sign and just about to get ready for a morning swim...

Great news Jim.....there is a lot of solace to be had from knowing that your not alone in your condition and I can imagine its quite therapeutic just speaking to others who face the same challenges you do ;)

You're right Vince :D

So far it's been a good week and it's testimony perhaps that I'm still here posting consistently that things might be turning a corner. It's a long time since I've been quite this consistent.

Off for a swim in a bit and then tomorrow I'm going to take the XM to Somerset and see dad...

Maybe the last long trip for the XM before she comes off the road for the winter...

Same for the Activa. Only the V6 Xantia will see nasty roads this winter... Unless it breaks of course...

Six lengths this morning :D

One of my fellow early morning swimmers remarked ' You're getting better!'

He's right, I am and I'm absolutely delighted, did me no end of good to hear that and to be able to up my length count...

Happy days!
