There was a nice H van at CXM on Sunday.

Well that's good, if it doesn't stand out and look obviously dreadful, then I think it will do for now.
The only ones I do need to properly sort out are the wing ones. One is making an escape for freedom and they are very corroded to the point where the tape shows up the bumps ect.

That H van at CXM was very special. Lovely cream colour.

Look what I found. I assume it isn't meant to be there! I had a look at Will's sunroof reseal thread and I cannot see a hole on his like this. So I can only think it isn't meant to be there. If so, I will bung it up for now and treat it later when I have the time. For now, I have used some very strong water proof tape used on dinghies to seal the well seal! ;) so hopefully that will do for now.
So now this afternoon I have to strip the interior out on the drivers side, cos I have found sodden sound deadening!!!! GRRRRRRRR!
At least I have found it and can get it dried out.

One thing to the next.

That hole is due to the bonding leaking water.

Thanks Will for confirming that. :D Precisely what I thought. I will plug it up temporarily and then sort it our after I get back from Amsterdam.

Well the interior on the drivers side is out and the floor was wet. No swimming pools, but it couldn't be left. I cut the foam out and also....and I am ashamed to say this, the carpet. but in my defence, once it is all back together, the cuts should be very well hidden.
It means then that I can really dry it out and not have to take the entire interior out. It is going to be filthy tomorrow, so one I can keep a beady eye on water ingress, and two it is quicker. Time is of the essence!
Also I can put the seat back and drive it whilst it drys out.
I had a closer look at the matrix and I can't see any water staining, or smells, so I am leaving it alone.

I'll post some pics later. Fortunately no serious rust issues. A little patch on the inner sill, but no holes. So treatment is about to happen!

It also means I can clean up where the seat goes. So not all is lost!

 thanks Jaap, but I think my carpet will be okay. The foam is drying in the bath! the carpet is almost dry already.

I cut it so it won't be visible and obvious.....the glue that holds everything together is soooo sticky. It should all stay in place.

The hole has been caused by rust. The gritty look is actually WD40 with dust and muck in it. Not rust.
And to me, this has only recently appeared too. I was slightly dubious as to what it initially was, as the hole was almost perfectly round, like a screw hole. But then why have a screw there....
So what has happened is the sealant bond between the metal fame and the glass has failed somewhere and water has collected in the frame and rotted a little hole.....and right over the corner of the headlining. So no wonder it was wet. So it will have to come out and be sorted out properly. At the moment I have temporarily sealed it all with tape. We're due some nasty weather tomorrow, so fingers crossed this will help to keep the water out.
I have put everything back minus a few bits of trim and obviously the foam and carpet...got a newspaper floor! ....so I can drive the car.

Put my rear subframe work back...but I am happy I have caught this now and sorting it all out before the winter really sets in and nasty things start occurring.

 Aren't they the best!

Just spent the last hour trampling the foam underlay in the bath with newspaper and a hair dryer. The things we do for these cars!

I have been looking at the stainless door trims for my Xantia but I'm not so sure after seeing a few cars with them on. Would be nice to know how durable this tape is and how it copes with the weather.

If it sticks over the top, does the chrome strip have to be continuous as mine has seen better days?

I would make sure that there are no bumpy surfaces Neil if anything. If its cracked, it might cover them without any issues. It is quite thick the tape. I sort of agree with you on Brian Primmers trims. The XM ones are not the right profile, and look a little strange.

So far the tape has survived quite a few heavy down pours and car washes. My car lives outside too. It does say that the tape an be used on jet skis. And so far, no peeling. Just make sure everything is clean and degreased. I had a little bit of water on one and it didn't stick, so it came off and was replaced.
