Re: Rob's SED
Exhaust now fettled with a repair to the centre section and a new rear section with the wallet suitably lightened.
Tomorrow or early next week it will get two new tyres on the front and an alignment check as they have been wearing on the inners. Having looked at what is available, I shall probably go for some Avon ZT5s with a C, C rating and 71 decibels - National are advertising two for £108-50 and I would expect my usual centre to match that, especially if I am getting tracking done as well. Their own advertised brand are Maxxis with a lifetime guarentee (whatever that means) but I am not sure of the price as their on-line pricing system is down. Any thoughts? The cheapest I can find Michelins is £66-12 each.

Re: Rob's SED
I wouldnt fall over myself to get michelins, i know a lot here rate them but ive just pulled a set of 4 off my mazda that have about 50% treadwear because all the sidewalls bulged to varying degrees which was more pronounced on the driven axle. my first mich tyres for many years, i wont be going back again, not when your spending £160 a corner. Avon, Maxxis and Nexen, tried them all and never had an issue with any of them, in fact im running 4 Nexen's now and apart from the fact they are not falling apart they are no different to the michelin's.

I guess you're right, you've got to wear out the Michelins relatively fast and if you don't drive a lot....I've seen many Michelins do strange things they shouldn't . Good point Dean. I just drive too much and they do last relatively long mileage wise, not so much time wise.

Re: Rob's SED
The C5 has Michelin pilot primacy tyres. Quite expensive too...anyway they have a habit of cracking on the sidewalls, especially the rears really quickly. So you guys are quite right to be a little negative about them in that respect. At the moment it has Goodyears I think on the fronts. Seem okay.
The only benefit I can gather from having Michelins is the better ride quality?

Re: Rob's SED
I'm very happy with my BFGs....
Budget Michelins I understand.. I've been using them for years as my local tyre place always seems to have special offers on them and have nothing but praise for them (and the tyres too...)
