Some more results of the passenger side lens. It started off like this...see below..

Image

This is the lens removed out of the light. It is the top lens and untreated. All nasty and yellow.

Image

I put i into soak in another mixture today. we had strong sunshine so it helped remove some more yellowing. it really does help things out having strong uv light.
And below is the finished cleaned, polished item. It isn't crystal clear. There is still a faint yellow tinge. But it is much much better that what it was before.

Image

I do realise it is missing a tab. It floated off! I must have forced it too far getting it out of the headlight. It was a tricky one to remove.

So I just need to get some Nightbreakers bulbs and reseal the headlight glass back onto the units. Can you get new gaskets for them. One has decided to break into three pieces!!

That is all very interesting stuff Russ and I remember you mentioned your plans to do this experiment at the CCC National Rally. I am pleased the result has been successful and also that the further headlights have come in useful! With regards, Matthew T.

I don't see anymore yellow...only problem is now how to re align them, how are you going to do that. Had a look at mine and they are yellow too..

Thanks Matthew. They have come in very handy. I am delighted they have cleaned up with this process. Just hope they stay clear. who knows...all part of the experiment. Next job is to seal them up and get them fitted I think.

Jaap, I haven't got the foggiest!! I think I am going to try a slightly bodgy way of doing it. As my headlights were recently aligned, I need to park it level and take a measurement and record the light pattern of the old lights. Then swap them for the new ones, and then try and match the same pattern with the new ones. practical classics have done a decent feature on how to align your headlights. So if these two dont work... I'll need to take it to someone who can...which is probably what will happen!

Some clear instant gasket will seal your lenses again for you Russ.

I look forward to seeing more pics of the new experiments. I am amazed at how well the old computers have cleaned up on the other web link provided.

Aligning headlights is easy.

Find a wall, park close and mark the wall with tape, reverse back 30 feet and the lights should have visibly dropped.

Just driving down a dark lane is usually good enough to tell correct alignment.

This is my thinking Will. Thanks for the extra advice.

Cheers Robert. I'll go get some sealant then.
It is amazing how effective this method is. The colour of some of those computers were nasty.
