Two of the wires are used to send serial messages.
Its a Mk2 thing only tied into the serial output capability of the XM Phillips radio.
Never checked the wiring but I suspect that the abandoned bulb failure message wires were reused for the serial.

A question for you actually...do you get any stereo related messages on the LHD display. I'm sure mine used to say something like Radio 2 ect.
Hi Russ

As everone else said its a MK2 thing, i certainly wont though as i dont have the dot matrix display :(

Cool, Cheers Dean for confirming, No idea why I thought mine did that. ;)

Not really Citroen related but just had a proper play with my new stereo, you can toggle between ipod or stereo control which is nice, also the screen is a bit bright, but that is ok as you have the stereo cover flap on the xm so no big deal, turns out that the screen dims down to a preset level when you turn the ignition on fully though, they think of everything with these gadgets  .

Got my auto dimming rear view mirror this afternoon too, already got power to it from the now illegal (and so removed) snooper speed camera detector.

I was thinking of putting my leather onto electric seat bases too but ive decided i have enough on my plate without making more work so that can wait until its all up and running. In the ideal world i would want heated seats with manual control anyway i think, just got an illuminated switch fetish that blurrs my judgement sometimes.

Hi all

Lots more happening, started painting under the car, ive decided to go with waxoyl under the floors as you just cant beat its rust preventing nature, yes its awefull stuff if you have to work under there in the future which is why i was thinking of doing it all in nice glossy stone chip but the goal is to preserve the car and prevent any rust forming so i settled with the waxoyl.
The rear subframe is ready to bolt back on tomorrow night which will be another big leap forward, the back bumper is back on and all the lights in too.

I had a look under the bonnet and for the life of me i cant remember where the wiring is routed through and around the fan housing which forms the front of the car, couldnt even remember how or where the battery box and hydraulic tank went in but ive sorted that now, not back in but i can remember how it goes.

The wings will be coming down out of the attic this weekend to be treated inside and new matching stonechip applied to the lower section to match the sills, i cant for the life of me find the wiper ass either but i have a fairly new item in the store to go in, so much work to do still, the devil really is in the detail.

I will be giving the guy with the XM collection in ventnor a call while im off, there are a few bits im after and he has an i or two, a tct and the rest 2.1's so plenty to plunder for parts with very little if any competition for the good stuff so hopefully i can get all my clips and brackets to replace the ones that were broken on mine.

No franklin, if all goes well could be mot able by the end of August but once that's done, and I iron out any niggles, it needs a little paint on the front bumper and some other bits, I don't want to rush it, just do it right once. Will have to be the Mazda for cxm this year

Makes sense Dean, no point rushing things. I'm sure the result will be well worth the wait... :)

Hmm...I need to do something to mine...the competition is hotting up...

Being honest, this year is probably a wash out as far as tidying the XM's.
