Six weeks would be enough service from the car!

I had less than 3 weeks service out of the car!

The J plate estate should see a little while.

If you're punting it on after you've done your move with it, I'll give you £200 for it.

I will probably take it to Chevronic (looks like they will be my local specialists), get them to give it a thorough assessment, then make a decision on its future. Fortunately, I know a good bodyshop if rust is the problem.

Just added onto my classic multi-car policy at no additional cost. This car is growing on me already.

enjoy the trip to the Cotswolds tomorrow. And remember, you can now say you've bought an estate in the country!

Have a safe journey back home from Chalford.

Thanks. I have informed my wife and I am still alive, which is promising.

I will report back tomorrow.

Well, aside from purchasing, the biggest expense so far has been 80 litres of unleaded.

There was a vibration in the steering around 70mph, £10 at the local tyre place for balancing seems to have cured that.

£8 for a pair of front wiper blades.

When the wheels were off the o/s front disc seems to have worn very strangely - there's a 5mm wide groove right at the edge of the disc, like something has been trapped under the pad and worn it down. The pads and discs look like they need changing anyway.

There is a slightly odd electrical problem (surprise!) - the info screen tells me that right and then left brake lights aren't working if I indicate right. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do this if the brakes are on. Maybe related to the towbar wiring? Not sure.

Steering seems heavy at low speeds.

The headlight diffusers have been removed - owner tells me this is a common thing to improve the brightness, but it seems to have had an adverse effect on the beam pattern.

Sunroof doesn't work (I knew this already) - motor spins when you press the buttons, but no movement.

You can open the driver's door when the doors are locked...

The right sided LCD panel is out of action.

But generally it drives quite well and will be fine for what I need.

The tail lights issue is the earth connections onto the lamp clusters.

What a useful car! And I suppose the estates are really rare now.
