You don't need to undo the top nuts! Just pull hard, there are little balls on the end of the bolts that snap into a plastic socket.

Excellent Jim. I swapped my entire LCD display with a new one a while ago....Along with the bulb. Works a treat, but it has highlighted I need to resolder some joins, as it does like to still scramble. Apparently I drive a lot in neutral!
