But it will run on cooking oil though ;)

CitroJim wrote:Hey Russ, it happens to all of us. Remember when I really lost it trying to renew a speedo cable on my TCT? It's a natural reaction and absolutely normal... The main thing is to always do what you did; walk away and come and tell us all about it. It really does help!

I don't know about the PRV V6 but bizarrely, the ES9 V6 is very accessible. Despite it looking a bit packed in there Mr. Citroen really thought about it and made everything (well, nearly) that you need to get to pretty much get-attable :) Some things like the oxygen sensor remain on the impossible list though...

Even odder the Xantia 6 is even better for access despite being a smaller car..

That's interesting Jim, so the ES9 is quite good then accessibility wise. Mk2 XM though........

I'm only joking about with the fuel prices. They seem to be falling to a decent price here. Just wonder how low will they go!
I believe the price of commodities such as oil and gold have dropped hence the lower prices. Oil is currently at a surplus due to something happening in the world. who knows what!
But supermarkets have also done their bit too. All good news for us. And it looks, but I doubt it will happen, that if we keep voting the Conservatives in, they'll pay us back with no more increases in fuel duty. Pull the other one Cameron...not bribed that easily!

The old Veg oil debate. If I ever do, it will only be mixed with the real stuff.

Russ
I mix the veg with the real stuff. It's 60 percent diesel and 40prr cent veggie.

Yeah that's the sort of ratio I might use Campbell.

I'd agree that a 60:40 ratio is about the limit of what's sensible to use.

Russ, if only there was an S1 ES9 I'd be very happy. There's some aspects of the S1 I really miss - that dash for one :(

It's my main issue with the mk2 too. The interior, nose cone and the rear spolier. All need to be mk1. :D

Two are easy to do, the other, a nightmare! :|

Jim the two times I have tried a higher ratio the engine really did not like it until it was warm - without a fuel heater I would not recommend a higher ratio of veg to diseasel

I have a friend who runs a 1.9TD Xantia on 100% veg as much as possible. Fine when warm but it's hard to start when cold and then it hunts and smokes like crazy until it's quite warm. It hunts so badly it almost stalls. Not good for the engine mounts really...

And I've had to rebuild his pump because of leaks...

But when it's hot it goes like stink... It's had the boost upped and the on-boost over-fuelling tweaked up a bit...

When I had my Xantia 1.9TD I ran it on 50/50 during the summer and one third veg during winter. Never had a problem.

Went out this morning to the post office and fill up with some derv, and there was a yellow Dyane parked outside. Never seen it before around Cheltenham and doesn't look like a CCC member. It had a blue boot lid and dark red roof, so plenty of patina and character....to the point of being almost unroadworthy! :? As I walked past it the driver drove off, leaving a very strong smell of petrol and a little trail behind him. Oooops!
