Ohh Russ, I know so well what you are experiencing. One of those days when everything turns out wrong. They happen all too frequently for me. I really hope today is panning out to be a better day for you...

Uh oh, Russ....so sorry. ~
Some days all goes well. Some days just throw everything thinkable at you. My best advice, just leave it alone for a while and then, it usually goes like you've done it a thousand times before. I know the feeling, but keep your calm.
Just shout out very loud, when no one hears you!
It WILL be fixed, promise

Well guys, the red mist has lifted and after a much calmer morning working on my new Peugeot 504 coupe illustration, and no computer crashing...I am going to have another look this afternoon. Fingers crossed!!!!!

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
Well I'm happy to report the pump belt has been successfully adjusted and it squeals no more!
How long that will last is another question.
It was fiddly though. I know it's all straight forward for most on here, and in reality it is a very easy thing to do, but it seems EVERYTHING on mine takes double the time. The main issue today was getting to the bolts and slackening them off. They were on very very tight.
Anyway, in the end I used Deans method of loosening one bolt and putting a ratchet in the square hole on the pump housing. Pulling up tightened the belt. It still has a little slack in it...everything was quite stiff, even with the bolt really loose, so no doubt it will need doing again! But it is silent and it's popping up really nicely at the mo.
On other things, i have now scraped back the underseal around the box section hole. Rust was underneath it, but not serious. Anyway exposed it all, and it's now being converted by some krust. So feel better about that now.
And the rubber seal at the top of the doors, which is bonded on, is now stuck once again. So hopefully any water that was getting in that way, will not anymore.
So the next gamble is to try and wait for the petrol prices to get a bit lower before topping up! £1.35.9 a litre currently. Will it go lower??????
Happy now!

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
That's brilliant news Russ, fantastic! Another day, another successful job done
Be thankful you don't have a TCT - everything on those is three times as difficult
I noticed petrol prices have fallen and when you run a V6 and an Activa these things are of interest
But for you I'd wait until diesel prices fall too before filling up yours. It won't like petrol very much

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto

Load of fuss about nothing really. Stupid to loose your temper over some thing so trivial. However, a fresh perspective and job done. Mind you that's the first time I have done a belt adjustment, so know for next time. It doesn't help when the Haynes book of lies has no mention at all on how to tighten it. Never mind, done now.

Yeah it won't like me putting Petrol in it that's for sure Jim. I'm nearly on empty, so when to pounce!! Hmmmm.
I'd love a V6, just won't love the complexity and lack of space.

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
I can't see diesel getting cheaper, the current reduction is due to the supermarkets cutting the price, not a fall in oil price.

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
Hey Russ, it happens to all of us. Remember when I really lost it trying to renew a speedo cable on my TCT? It's a natural reaction and absolutely normal... The main thing is to always do what you did; walk away and come and tell us all about it. It really does help!
Some things like the oxygen sensor remain on the impossible list though...
Even odder the Xantia 6 is even better for access despite being a smaller car..
I don't know about the PRV V6 but bizarrely, the ES9 V6 is very accessible. Despite it looking a bit packed in there Mr. Citroen really thought about it and made everything (well, nearly) that you need to get to pretty much get-attableruss92xmsed wrote: I'd love a V6, just won't love the complexity and lack of space.![]()
