Re: Gold 2.0Si
I know...I do find that very odd. I wonder if he accidentally damaged it and thats his excuse. From memory, XM headlinings are either pale grey or black. So what's wrong with that?

Re: Gold 2.0Si
I have come across a few early cars where part of the cloth detached from the lining and hung down.
Not that easy to glue back up.
Trimming it with a pair of sissors seemed to be one owners fix.
Everyone treats and values there cars differently.

The Sandbach car, headlining was hanging down, but a peel back and spray with spray mount would soon fix that.

Re: Gold 2.0Si
I have used spray upholstery adhesive. Worked brilliantly.

On mine that i got from Paul, i had the same problem. Fabric glue didnt work so i resorted to pinning it on its leading edge to stop it sagging

Re: Gold 2.0Si
In one of my old estates the head lining was sagging in the back, the black border trims were holding it reasonably up. Then the cat got in and started to paw at the sagging head cloth, and decided a claw better be stuck into said cloth for good measure! You can imagine the rest.

I've had one of them weeks where I've needed to pull myself in so many different ways, but still managed to get some work done on the car.
Whipped the seats out and vacc'd the interior then gave the carpets, seats and door cards a good valet. Cleaned all the plastic down and the next day put the seats back in onto dry clean carpets. The difference is marked. Now need to figure out how to get the gearknob off - and don't say just pull it, that got me knowhere.

Re: Gold 2.0Si
Great stuff Eddie
It's getting near time for some more pictures as progress sounds good and significant
manual gear knobs do pull off but they need one heck of a pull as they're held onto the stick by reverse pointing barbs and you need to break them to remove the knob which you do by giving it a very firm tug.
The problem is that although it'll fit back on OK it'll be loose and come off in your hand at the most inopportune times
I remember driving a Xantia with a loose gear knob once. The comedy value was enormous...
If it's an automatic gear selector then I don't know - never had to have one off or apart (yet)...
