Hi Russ
She was driving when it went.
Off road reversing up a continuous slope about 1 in 20.
Trackway washed out near bottom of hill, no turning point.
She was almost back to the top when the car was enveloped in a large cloud of black smoke.
It was the cars own fault as she was following the satnav.

Cor John, that must have been quite a sight. Yikes! No wonder it went pop then.
Very good Robert. I hated the Laguna III, but liked the II very much. Unfortunatly that was the problem child.
I really fancy a Laguna Coupe, but suspicious of their reliability too. What it needs is a good HDI!!! 3.0 V6 HDI.

Re: Vince's 2.1td xm
Reno have pulled all larger cars from the UK due to slow selling and concentrate on smaller city buzz boxs
So that's laguna, estate, val statis and what ever else their large cars they had..
I do believe the newer second gen dci engines probably in the laguna three onwards is sorted..
The issue that was killing laguna two dci engines was the stupidly stretched oil servicing.. 18k between on fully synthetic oil.. The 18k being the killer.. The xantia is 12,500..
I think later engines have rreduced intervals back down to 12,500 like the xantia..
Get a laguna two with a replacement blower and do 10k oil services and it should be fine..

Very nice. Especially the 2.0 Turbo. Had a test drive in one when it was new. C5 won though.

Re: Vince's 2.1td xm
Well, Jim asked how it stacks up against the xm....Different cars of course, different eras, different purpose, different level of styling excellence...but then...
I think Jim it depends on the spec. This one feels very tactile, everything is leather and feels solid and built with quality. No rattles or bumps....at all! Its silent inside.
Its a nice soft ride, softer than the scenic and it isnt on huge 4x4 tyres either being the 2 wheel drive model. Its not xm soft of course, but pleasantly soft, but then its a big car so it kind of feels big a boatlike like the xm. It wills you to waft and take your time rather than race it.
It actually feels really big when your driving it, yet outside its clearly not as big as it feels. What it has in common with the xm is the feeling of acres of interior space. The glass area is big, but its absolute swan song and i think its a must on these (as its optional), is the full glass roof! Its epic
I drove to work this morning, ambling along in my heated leather armchairs, it was bright and sunny outside and i had the roof exposed all the way back (i dont drive it any other way) and it was gloriously light and airy. Almost like you were sat in a field.....If they prove to be reliable with a few more miles and years on them would i buy one? do they stir any feelings? Could you get attached to one?...Yes i think so...and id buy one too, though it would have to be a high spec one like this one
If im not far from you Jim when i do the traction job on the 13th and 14th, ill pop over in it and you can have a gander. Im sure the job isnt far from your house
and ill be travelling down in that...less miles clocked up on the xm

So when did you land the job of Nissan salesman then Vince?
You're doing a good job there and painting a lovely picture of motoring Kumquat-style...
Whereabouts is it you're going?

That'll be excellent, be lovely to see you VinceVince wrote: If im not far from you Jim when i do the traction job on the 13th and 14th, ill pop over in it and you can have a gander. Im sure the job isnt far from your houseand ill be travelling down in that...less miles clocked up on the xm

Indeed and I see around here the place is lousy with Pukes as well. Saw three last evening in the space of perhaps as many miles...citroenxm wrote:There must be something good with these squash sky's.. Theres certainly loads of the things about..
I still fancy getting a Puke just for the crack of driving something that looks so wacky and hilarious... I'm sure that's why the majority buy them. I mean, how can you not smile when driving one. I know I always smile when I see one...
