Yes, but buying an XM blind on the 'bay would have been very risky. I'll bet it's not in any way perfect and will need quite a lot of time and money spent to bring it to my standard...

Tell me about it Jim. I have many a time nearly bought several XM's...including Roberts old 17K Si, of ebay. But I just couldn't go through with it. I would get as far as bidding, but the pressure and anxiety would take over an I would chicken out. The unknowns where to much to cope with!...still are in fact.

Jaap, this was when Roberts Si was on eBay about 2006/7 ish I think. He didn't own it then but bought it then...if you see what I mean. And as it turns out, I really should have bought it! I also remember at the time there was a 40k Manadarin SD for not much too, it was still in France, but was going to be brought back to the UK. So I was kind of caught between the two...and ended up with neither. The Manadarin one was a very tidy example. Even had the tape cassette introducing you to your new XM. Wonder what happened to that car?

I have bought a few cars on e-bay. Its fine. Just treat it as any other car buying medium. Don't pay unless you are happy with it as you would with any other purchase.
