Gosh and blimey
I've never seen that happen to a disc before Paul
A few minutes with the welder will soon have it as good as new! (only joking...)
Hope the remains comes off the hub OK. last lot of stuck XM discs I had to deal with needed the hydraulic press and 7 tons.

Tis interesting really, as the Nearside disk looked virtually new, but after seeing that Off side disk, Ive changed them both with new pads too...
Rears to check, and what Im really after IF POSSIBLE is a good right hand display (NON trip computer) if theres such thing, they are the same display as the 306 S1 clocks fitted to the XTDt models...

Ah now what I did forget to say on the Nearside disk swap was this:CitroJim wrote:Gosh and blimeyI've never seen that happen to a disc before Paul

After removing the caliper, I gave the disk a good lump hammer a few times, NOT budging! NOT an ounch! An article in car mechanics from about 12 years ago came to mind when they couldn't remove a disk.. They had bought a Manderin 2.1 D XM as a project, and they couldn't shift the front disks, but they Cold Chiseld them off, but I decided a different method..
The Bottom ball joint house, lies in line with the disk inner, my landlord at the farm had a long bar with a tapered end on it, so I pressed it between the ball joint house and disk, then smacked the bar in a bit, then hit the disk outwards, then the bar in a bit, and het presto the disk started moving, and heres the stupid bit, a bit more bar and disk movment, the disk finally gave way, HOWEVER, so did the bar, and whos foot was under it all.... YUP Mine!
The disk missed me, but because I was useing two hads on the hammer the bar had no support, and yes, it landed on my foot.... Today though, theres not even a bruise, but I can still feel the bar on my foot!
Theres the full disk sarga, all done now...

Excellent Paul
That's an excellent tip from Car Mechanics...
Quite independently I discovered it myself the other week when doing the discs on Northern_Mikes Berlingo. They were well stuck too and I used my long pry-bar with an angled end in a very similar way to how you describe.. Mike's came off with just a bit of stern leverage but we did fairly soak them in Plus Gas though...
Did you work out why the disc broke?
So, when is the MOT booked? can't be much now left to be done before she its the road again
Another good tip for discs. Use an Impact Driver on the Torx retaining screws and chances are they'll come out happily whereas using a Torx bit in the conventional manner is almost guaranteed to cause then to shear off...
I still have my trusty Impact Driver from my Japanese motorcycle days where such a tool was an absolute necessity for successfully removing the Philips screws holding the engine casings together...

Ha, thats also an amazing thing! The Torx screws on both sides, both came out simply!! NO issues.
Phew Jim, theres still a bit to go, I need a decent right hand display, to get the dash back together, check over the rear brakes, fit some front tyres, find a decent exhaust to go on, front to back, cam belt, water pump, service, all with no money ..
It wont be the end of this month now, it will have to be end of next but Ill be dammed sure its before X rally!

Paul, is a Xantia 2.1TD exhaust system any use to you? I have one here I've been trying to give away for ages.
Nobody wants it. It's cat back to the back box so is one box and loads of pipe basically. If it is of any use to you at all then it's yours..
It's brand-new, never been used..

Re: Paul's latest 2.1Sd manual NOW WITH PICS...on page 4
Probably not Jim, Xantia exhaust and XM exhaust are a little different...
Is it 2.1 Xantia specific, or will it fit other Xantia engines??
However, if you want it removing , Ill take it away for you..

I don't know how Xantia specific it is actually Paul. I'd expect it to fit a catted 1.9TD but I know it's no god for a V6 or Activa...
OK, when the FCF comes back up I'll offer it again as it's taking up valuable room here.
If it isn't taken I'll take you up on your kind offer next time I'm up your way...
