Thanks JiM
Well the usual trials of "older" car ownership presented themselves today
This morning i wound down the drivers side window for a minute and then the front windows decided to pack in

Fuse checked, = OK. Window switches removed and refitted = OK, so we had to drive the 40 miles or so down the M56 with the window half open
Linda said to me....how are you going to fix it? I replied.....trust me they will just start working again on their own...it will be an earth problem or a dodgy connection somewhere....Sure enough we arrived at Cheshire Oaks and i tried the switch...up it went

We went shopping and then back at the car, tried the windows....Nothing

I love xm's

Im not bothered, my old Passat side window packed in and it was out of action for about a year before i fixed it.
BUT.....the best bit.....last night i forgot to mention after doing the cigarette lighter i popped the bonnet and poked around a bit. I unplugged the turbo boost guage and checked the connection...seemed ok, i checked the previous owner's vacuum/pipe fix and suspected it wasnt making an air tight seal at the sensor end. I refitted it pushing it on really tight and clipped it up, On the motorway today i noticed the turbo guage has sprung back into life
The pipe has been frankenstein'd in the past, so i'll replace the lot with a nice piece of clean new pipe with some new clips and give the connector a quick spray with WD and then that should keep it in action for a few more years
This year im on a bit more money, so i want to slowly fix up the bits that need attention....centre console bulbs next, then the wishbone bushes need doing i think...it wobbles a bit under high speed braking...no pedal pulse though so im not suspecting brake discs...But that said, as its hydraulic braking, would the pedal pulse if the discs were warped?
