XM stability
Bearing in mind that my car still needs it's spheres regassed, today I was really surprised at the high speed stability when driving along a motorway in heavy rain. it was apparent that he car didn't deflect or wander at all even where the road was very wet, this was much better than other cars I drive in such conditions.

Re: XM stability
I've rather surprisingly found my 24v wanders a bit and doesn't feel half as planted as the CX GTi Turbo;
mind I won't admit to how far round I wound the speedo. It got to the point where the car told me to
slow down! I don't lie, the dot matrix got the hump about how high the temperatures were getting.
Maybe tyre pressures possibly but the 12v does the same and I run tidy tyres on the fast Xm's

Re: XM stability
Worn steering components maybe? I don't know but my XM doesn't wander at high speed and I don't think it should. My CX GTI Turbo did, and it took me a long time to figure out how to correct that.

Re: XM stability
For wandering check the toe out is set correctly. Too much toe out and it will wander. My cars run on Michelins.

I have no problems with Michelin shod cars.
Cars with bad strut top de-lamination aren't as nice to drive either.

Re: XM stability
The further I drove on the motorway the more planted it seemed today, almost as if it was magnetically held to the road. Very impressive.

Isn't that called gravitational pull!?

Hmm, maybe mine just don't like being driven flat out to the needle bump stops?
Been a long while since I've done so of course...

Re: XM stability
I know it sounds really funny but after stopping for a cuppa at Leicester Forrest the first minute or so felt 'harsh' and then she went all smooth and sublime again. According to the Hydractive light fitted she was in soft mode all the way. I've never explored the needle stops on a XM, maybe I'm getting old.... Driving a XM on the motorway is just superb, I can only imagine how good a nice V6 24v is.
