Halfords have a web exclusive on their own brand oils - you get a free screwdriver set with each 5l ordered - so £39.98 for two lots of oil and £20 worth of 'lifetime guarantee' screwdrivers for free. More importantly, it works with reserve and collect too. I've been looking at the screwdrivers for a little while as I upgrade my toolkit.

Will report back tomorrow - reserved oil for both cars for collection later.

final reckoning was four spark plugs, two 5litres of semi synth, two sets of screwdrivers and a tenner off voucher for my next halfords spend. All for £53.

Costco have oil in bulk at what seems reasonable prices. The Prius is on 5w/30 so bulk doesn't make sense for me. I bought the last lot from JTF for the Prius, the Q8 stuff I bought was about £13 for 4Ltr.

I ordered some Petronas 4Ltr Syntium 1000 10W40 oil from Euro Car Parts, £8.69 with the 31% off offer (code BIGDEAL31) this is a semi synth oil which is suitable for both petrol and diesels and is a very good quality oil. It's running well in my VW engine as well as in the XUD diesel engines in my ZXs. Free delivery or you can collect from the local Euro Car Parts.

Campbell I've also got some Purflux LS880A oil filters which are what Citroen use themselves (& charge £20+) I know it fits the 2.5 but not sure if they suit the 2.1 as well, you're welcome to them at what they cost me (£5) when you come to pick up the tyre.

The 2.1 and 2.0 both use the same filter - HOF204 from Halfords or purflux PURFLUX LS 867B.

I think the bigger filter for the 2.5 fits but I'll have a spare filter with me as I still have a Mahle OC976 that came from AEP when I called in there ages ago.

They are all the same thread and sealing diameter, although the body may be longer, don't forget to add a little more oil to compensate for that though.

I'm kind of glad I don't have a 2.5 with its almost 8 l oil capacity. I knew the thread was the same. Ta Robert

The extra 2 Litres of oil, well worth it for the extra go and refinement!
