I've bought one for my estate, especially as it says it doesn't involve any drilling so no holes in the bumpers. I've never really had any problems with parking, I just wait until I feel the towbar crunch into the other car! but at £39 quid I reckon it's worth it.
I was so impressed with the one on the BMW I breifly owned that I fitted a cheap after market set on my 406 - brilliant it screams at you for a blade of grass but cheerfully lets you back into a wall or another car.
