Hi gang, long time no chat.
I've got a simple question that I hope has a simple answer. What's the easiest way to drain out ten gallons of jungle juice from my 2.0 turbo estate? The car failed its MOT with an exhaust leak somewhere up by the turbo.
Regards to you all,
Derek

Re: Draining the fuel tank
If you remove the multiplug to the fuel pump, put power to pins 3 and 5, you'll know if you are sucking or blowing. Disconnect the upper pipe that goes into the side of the fuel rail, add another bit of pipe to put into your jerry can, and the fuel pump will pump the tank fairly dry.
It will take a while, but its effective.
Another option is remove the fuel pump and sender from the tank, and use some other kind of pump to empty the tank, or syphon the tank from the same place.

Thanks Robert, as I don't know where the fuel pump multiplug is, could I just disconnect the pipe as you suggested and switch on the ignition?

Re: Draining the fuel tank
When I idiotically put petrol in my diesel xant, the AA man has emptied the tank with the ignition key in about hald an hour. There were 30 liters in it. I thought the key/plip itself would break but all was well!
Hope you're alright Derek.
Best wishes

Re: Draining the fuel tank
Hi Derek,
The fuel pump and sender is under the drivers side of the back seat, you will see an access flap there. The plug goes into the top of it.
Hopefully turning the ignition switch will activate the pump for you. I tried this recently on a 16V Xm, and it didn't work on the ignition switch, then again, I had a lot of the engine compartment stripped already.
