All Xm had remote locking function and central locking, so the box you have will fit.
You were very lucky to obtain a matched remote receiver and keys.

The central locking is just that, so if your existing one works from the door locks there is no need to replace it, just fit the new remote receiver and use the new plip.

Seems I lucked out then!
Where would the original remote receiver be in the car?

On a Series-1 the receiver is in the overhead console by the rear view mirror. Just unclip the light lens and it will then be central.

Series-2 Xm went on to use RF plip, for which the receiver is under the glovebox. Functionality is the same for both types, the receiver trips the central locking control to operate as a result of shunting either the lock, or unlock wire to Gnd.

Okay new locks turned up so I went about sorting them, the drivers side one went in fine, it locks and locks the driver's door fine (handle sticks out a bit tho) passenger side grub screw is rusted on so I'm going to have to drill that one out.
now when I lock the door it will lock the front passenger door and boot but when unlocking it'll only unlock the driver's door, I'll have to get in the car and physically push the lock up to unlock the passenger door and boot
Another thing is the locking tab on the driver's door wasn't on, so I've put it on but it doesn't click in, so if it's pulled up to unlock the door it'll just come off, and it'll only go up and down a tiny bit, not properly like the passenger door, so I'm not quite sure what's the issue with that ALSO the rear doors don't lock with the central locking, the locking tabs on both rear doors are also stuck down and won't go up but the door itself is always open, there's power to the rear passenger side as the window can go up and down, the drivers side rear door has no power to it at all though, so not sure if there's a loose connection in the door or not, I'll have to take the door card off and have a look

Also found out the rear wiper doesn't work at all
On a positive note tho I've got the headlights working now! The connection on the relays went a bit grubby so cleaned them up and now they work a charm! So that's at least one thing topped off the list

Also I've noticed some plugs on the engine bay by the left headlight that don't go to anything? I take it these are just used Ina different spec?

Also noticed this pipe in the engine bay with a screw in the end? I can't tell what it's for or why there's a screw in the end? It just disappears into the body work


Oh and I don't suppose you know the part number for the seals for the intake pipe? Previous owner has caked them in silicone too instead of fitting new ones

The pipe with a screw most probably is the vacuum pipe that goes to the EGR valve.

Starting at the front, working backwards;
Spare connectors are just or different equipment.

The plugged pipe, as stated by Tigerhunter, is indeed the Egr valve vacuum pipe. You may hear the pump running in the right wing.

Door locks.
Rather than drilling out the rusted grub-screw, try hammering an Allen key/torx bit in to see if it shocks it loose.

The front door lock units have an internal switch to detect lock/unlock, which turning the key barrel operates. It's possible the Unlock signal isn't being relayed to the control box, either due to duff internal contact (unlikely), poor connection at the lock unit, or more likely the door hinge connector.

The door handle not fully relaxing could be interfering with the lock operation.

The rear doors are slaves, so simply follow the front door motors. The Gnd for the rear doors is under the centre console.

The internal lock buttons have a self setting grip inside. Assuming the grip is there set it to the lower detent position, fit the button and press down, at which point it should slide upwards, grip the metal rod and set the knob height.
To remove the knob, press the detent in from the upper slot and down to the lower one, then lift the knob off.

If the knobs are jammed it will stop the lock unit operating under central locking control.

The rear wiper not functioning could be either the switch, relay, or, most likely on an estate, the wiring loom at the tailgate hinge has broken.

I believe you have the wiring diagrams, if not shout out. Due to yours being a slightly later car, it's possible some of the wiring colours will have changed and we can get the correct diagram.

I did say most Xm have been neglected, or bodged.
