What goes there then?

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

What goes there then?

Post by Citroenesque » Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:28 pm

Being new to XM ownership, I was in the back of the car wondering what the four button blanks at the back of the centre console would be for? Was it lighting or dual air con or adjustable seats or what?... I'm just curious! I do know some cars had wooden trim over that panel. I quite like the idea of that. In addition, if I can use the button spaces for something useful, like a USB charge point that might be worth considering. Don't need the ashtray to be an ashtray either...

Anyone with a bit of spare wooden trim as described - let me know :) Ta!

They're for the optional rear heated seats that some XMs had.

"Wood" trim on these was only done on series 2 cars, and looked like a melted mars bar. I prefer the real wood that my car has.

You're not alone Phil, I like the 'melted mars bar' look too (there's far too much black plastic in these cars).

I've only ever seen them on late 24v cars, I don't think any other models got them :(

I'm not sure of the price of that part from Citroen, but the wood effect bits on the centre consol are around £400 each.

Real wood!

Citroen look scarey prices for some of these bits of trim. I never sit in the back or see that rear ashtray surround unless I'm cleaning.

Yep rear heated seats. Base and seat back on the later cars. After about 2-3mins on the highest setting you have to turn them down. Very efficient.
