The car wasn't advertised for sale at all.
I found out about it in a round about way. The guy who I bought my 2.1 Auto from was selling an auto TCT, and the owner of the red 2.1 came down to see it, so I was told about the 2.1 Manual. I happened to be going to a meeting close to where this red car was, and arranged to call in and see it.
I'm trying to rationalise my fleet a bit, and I wanted a manual diesel XM in the fleet to use along sides the auto.
It does look almost as good as the pictures, the interior really is spotless, the pasengers side front wing has a kink in it. The car needs new tyres, the PAS is still very heavey after all the work that has been done on the hydraulics. And it needs a small patch welding in behing the passengers side jacking point, but it is no where near as bad as it was on the 2.5.
I think the real low mileages XMs are going to be impossible to find now!
So the 2.5 is getting the chop. I am getting sick of it. It has a lot of other faults as well. It has a bad hydraulic leak from the main pressure pipe coming from the pressure regulator, the rear brakes are unbalanced with more braking effort on the drivers side. The thing is loosing coolant as well and running hot. The exhaust on it is weak, I already had to weld a patch on it. It will need a new screen as well when the crack gets bigger. I don't have the time to waste on it anymore. Its a shame, but they can't all be saved, and the body of it really isn't that good.
Ideally, I would like it to go onto someone who has the time, appetite and budget for the 2.5, but I don't think I will have any takers over here in NI. We'll see what happens. I'll leave it for a week or so, and might go back to it again, and see if I can get it MOT'd and sell it on as is rather than breaking it. However, there is always a healthy demand for cheap XM spares!
