Hello again Y'all and help with a pug needed

Post by mebedforduk » Sun Jan 31, 2010 7:50 pm

Evening all,

so this is where you all went and hid.................

First off a Q about the step daughters PUG 106, (for all of you following the soap opera, she was thrown out of alky dads house as soon as she no longer had any Child maintenance value and now resides with us)

Anyway

Pug 106 X plate 1.1i zest 2 ( in other words lower than base model but with a zest shiny sticker)

The poor little thing froze in the cold snap, minus 9 and a what I thought was antifreeze was probably Tizer, meant the stat housing, hoses and rad turned to ice.

Coming home at 6am the temp warning light came on so did the manglement light and fan cut in ( no guage just a warning light)

1st port of call was the stat - changed, tested the old one and not working

Water now moving as it should around the system

temp light still on ( so as a temporary repair pulled the relay on the fan)

I have since changed the sensor on the stat housing and now the sensor on the block but still the same- although the manglement light is now off, the temp light and fan both live

Nearly all 106s had 3 sensors, the fan and warning light controlled by the block sensor and another in the side of the rad.

The basic zest model does not have the rad sensor - I have tried the 106 forums but as most are spotty 17 year old asking " My exhuast sounds loud and scrapes on the floor, whats wrong?" I have given up

In typical PSA style its not going to present a big problem until summer but defies logic

Anyway, yes I would still like an XM, Danny @whm is only down the road and I am so tempted, but alas pennies do not permit. nor does space

Right off for some vin rouge and foodings

TTFN

Well, there's a blast from the past, welcome to our humble forum Mark. I'm afraid welcome you is all I can do because I know nothing about petrol engines unless they have a curburetter and distributer, haven't run one in over 20 years. I'm sure someone who can help you will be along soon.

Mr Bedford...

Fancy seeing you here :D

Sorry, like Peter, I'm not too sure about the Pug, however what I am sure about is we'll get you an XM yet, told you you'd be back :D

Plenty of 2.5s floating about here...

Yep thats what I was thinking Peter, but I was counting on the superior knowledge of XM owners first, oh well never mind.......................

Hey your B & B, do you allow hounds? and Audis?

Cheers

I have never had a Citroen with a petrol engine, not an XM, CX or BX. Been running mostly diesels since the '50s, I'll fix your Morris Minor for you :D

Hi, Sorry this response is a little tardy, it has taken me over three weeks to remember that Ciaran had sent me an email with my password, which I had forgotten of course. Anyway, your Pug, have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, I know its a long shot, but it is fairly easy and you can always put the ten minutes to good use by topping up your alcohol level. My theory, aka the straw I am grasping, is that engine management systems tend to remember faults. Cheers, Kit
PS If anyone has an illustration of a 'Little Tardy', would they post it ?

Thanks Kit

Have been thinking about the battery, but we dont have a radio code so was trying to avoid if I could. Its a shit radio anyway but she listens to Classic Gold (at 20 years old!!)

The manglement light is now off, ha fixed itself.

Its going to have to wait till it gets warmer before I venture out, My fingers do not function in the cold and it does tend to make for "tardy" progress (Did you see what I did there?)

At the rate she is going I wont need to worry anyway as the car will be a mangled heap.

It was a silly clean, family owned, kissed goodnight car, not a blemish.
Now its got dents all down one side, deep hedge scratches that have caused their own dents, nudged out of line bumpers, hanging off door mirrors, more dirt inside than out...............

I will give the battery a try and she will just have to take up singing

Cheers
