Re: My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige
It is a nice colour, i rather like the metalic green and the grey that Vince's 2.1td was too.
To the right of the XM is the little patio area where the table and chairs are so i do end up sitting and looking at it most summer evenings, which is also sad.

Well.. if i didnt have a 24v manual already then i to would do 330 mile round trip to be getting one cheap as possible.. but .........Dieselman wrote:I've done a round trip of 330 miles today to do a bit of work to a car...which brings me to...citroenxm wrote:Wow the advantages of being able to work on a car AT your home! Re: My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige
Today i wanted to have another go at sorting the TPS, does anyone know of any document that relates to setting the TPS? i can get the voltage thresholds at which the modes change to change but not where i want them to, ive been searching the net all last night and cant find anything, im tempted to buy a new TPS but i now have 4 of them and they all do the same thing so i doubt that is the issue and dont want to waste the money.

Re: My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige
Here is a video of the TPS output via lexia as seen by the ECU, not the switching point between idle and mid before and after unplugging and plugging the sensor back in.
https://youtu.be/97VX6KoVlxg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The only way to bring that switch point back down to .7v is to unplug the ecu for a few minutes and plug it back in again (cut off the power supply to ecu)
I decided to punch out the steel inserts in the fixing holes of the TPS to make them 8mm in diameter, nearly double the OE fixing size to be able to clock the TPS further, if i cant bring the switch point down for the time being i will take the idle position output voltage up to meet it.

I have now managed to bring idle voltage up to .66v with a switch threshold of .7v, i will see if this improves things further tomorrow.

Even if they look the same,Bosch number determine it's specs.
You must have the right one for your car, with correct Bosch number(10 digit number...0 280 xxx xxx).

Re: My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige
The white one is from the V6's the black one is from a 2.0i they are identical in every way, rotation range, resistance, size, pinouts etc etc but the white one has an extra tang on the electrical socket (two tangs each side) where the black 2.0i one only has one on one side and two on the other. the last two digits of the P/N is different too.
I've used both in situe and there is no operational differences at all.
im keeping my fingers crossed there is further improvement when i take it out tomorrow which will prove this ECU switching threshold is the issue, then do i leave it as it is if it's fixed or try and find why it wont drive properly set to correct voltage values.

But Bosch obviously ran out two different versions of this component.Dean wrote:. . . they are identical in every way, rotation range, resistance, size, pinouts etc etc . .
One thing you haven't checked - I think - is the linearity or otherwise of the resistance track. I'm not suggesting it's logarithmic, but they could be non-linear in different ways, and this would alter the "states" the ECU sees, even if top end and bottom voltages were the same.
I'd be checking out resistance of wiper-to-ground end for a series of angular steps. Bit of card and an improvised pointer should help.
Just guessing, again.

Re: My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige
New problem today, she ate her Hydraulic V belt, literally just destroyed it, the smell of burning rubber was wonderfull, i made it home fine and opened the bonnet to find my nice clean engine covered in rubber dust and at idle the pump pulley was just jerking round, sometimes not moving at all.
Turning the engine off i heard a hiss that tailed away coming from the flow diverter/pressure regulator area so im thinking i have a blockage somewhere which is really odd.

I can confirm when turning the hydraulic pump by hand there is a whistling sound from the pressure regulator area, its pretty stiff to turn when the system is pressurised but i would imagine it is anyway.............this problem may take a little finding, everything worked fine but it keeps eating belts no matter how tight they are, this last one was the full 3ft breaker bar, sweat on the brow tight so the problem must be extreem load on the pump.
