Finished the last of the under bonnet wiring this evening, made new brackets for the engine cover and fitted it, also put the rad back on and filled the coolant system with antifreeze, the front end is pretty much ready to go back on, bleed the brakes, make and fit a new back box to tide me over until i can save for a stainless system with new cat, ive decided that's the way to go as I've f'd around so much with steel exhausts over the years and since im not planning on getting rid of the car at any point i think im going to bit the bullet and do it. there is a Swedish company that does a full cat back system that looks OE but without the stupid 'Y' branches with twin pipes in it (i really don't understand why they did that) for £450 + postage.
Running wise it starts on the button and seems very nice but there is a constant rhythmic and heavy vibration when the engine is revved, it also misses a bit at idle, i have not looked into this but i know KYOG done it and i am still running that cars spark plugs so i will fit the new ones as one of the finishing jobs when i change the oil and filters again before use.
The ECU is still insisting there is a permanent fault with the crank sensor and isnt displaying an EML, unplugging the sensor does not change the fault and this ECU does not seem happy talking to the Lexia, on any diag screen like the fault code one the screen constantly refreshes every 10 seconds, if a sensor unplugs it displays the fault on the next flash of the screen, if you plug the sensor in the next time the screen flashes the fault is gone.
The EML also flickers steadily with the ignition on, every 2 seconds it just flickers like it turns off and on really fast so i am wondering about how happy this ecu is.
This will be investigated if new plugs does not solve the slight missing and vibration.
Nearly ready to take it out and find the really horrific problems now.....................cant wait......GULP!
